jj-cf-stlParticipantgroin strain like the past few times for Pham
May 5, 2018 at 4:19 pm #51039Pham left with groin tightness, I think was the report. He appeared to be in low-gear going after a couple of fly balls that dropped in safely.
May 5, 2018 at 4:24 pm #51040Hicks with a scoreless 9th to give the Cards a fighting chance. Top of the order up (Bader, Carp, Mart) to face Morrow.
May 5, 2018 at 4:31 pm #51041Cards with 2 on and one out. Ozuna to the plate. It’d be nice to tally the first runs against Morrow this year.
May 5, 2018 at 4:33 pm #51042
stlcard25ParticipantOzuna!!
May 5, 2018 at 4:33 pm #51043Cards now tie it on Ozuna double! Yadi pops out to set the stage for Fowler. Ozuna on 2nd with 2 outs.
May 5, 2018 at 4:34 pm #51044
jj-cf-stlParticipantjose and ozuna come through….. new game
May 5, 2018 at 4:38 pm #51045Oh my, how did Fowler’s fly not end it? Seemed like it was gone off the bat. Extra frames now.
May 5, 2018 at 4:45 pm #51047
jj-cf-stlParticipantHe must have hit it a mile high. I thought it was gone off the bat.
May 5, 2018 at 4:47 pm #51048Bad development in the 10th, Norris removed due to injury after getting a strikeout. Not sure what it is. Leone last night…Pham, Yadi and now Norris today.
Lyons coming in with 2 outs and a runner on 2nd.
May 5, 2018 at 4:53 pm #51049
stlcard25ParticipantWhat did it look like? Arm?
May 5, 2018 at 4:53 pm #51050Lyons comes in, gives up a wild pitch to advance Heyward to third, then gives up a line shot that must’ve had an exit velocity of 250 mph…but it was right at Carp for the 3rd out. Way to deliver Tyler!
Cards better win now because there’s no bench left.
May 5, 2018 at 4:57 pm #51051
jj-cf-stlParticipantWALK OFF WONG!
May 5, 2018 at 4:58 pm #51052Wow, what a game.
May 5, 2018 at 5:02 pm #51053What did it look like? Arm?
It wasn’t very clear. Norris made the strike 3 pitch (which was his last pitch) that got away and didn’t show any reaction as he was tracking Pena get the ball while Heyward advanced. Then Maddox and Matheny came out, followed by the trainer, who didn’t really look at anything, other than to talk to Norris. Norris appeared to flex his fingers a little while they were huddled, then promptly left the game.
May 5, 2018 at 5:11 pm #51054This game will be one for the Hot Stove telecast this winter, no doubt.

ParticipantWhat a thriller! We are going to be putting our depth to the test the next couple weeks. My guess is O’Neill up to replace Pham, Gant up to replace Leone now, and Brebbia up to replace Norris? This is assuming they both need a DL stint. Mayers replaces Gant after Monday’s game.
Bullpen will have:
Hicks
Holland
Gregerson
Bowman
Lyons
Sherriff
Tuivailala
Brebbia (8)I’d say Bowman will be on quite the short leash at this point in terms of his ML stay.
May 5, 2018 at 5:21 pm #51056PadsFS
ParticipantActually, they’ll probably go with another hitter during the week between Gant and Wainwright since there will already be 8 pitchers in the bullpen.
May 5, 2018 at 5:24 pm #51057For the record, St. Louis wins its second straight over the Cubs and fourth game in a row, with a 8-6 victory in 10 innings. The Cards improve to 19-12 on the season.
May 5, 2018 at 5:27 pm #51060HUGE WIN! Not just in the standings but even more so psychologically.
May 5, 2018 at 5:28 pm #51061
stlcard25ParticipantThese are the kind of games that can make the difference between a playoff team and one sitting at home for October. Nice to get the victory. Hope they can hit Lester tomorrow night.

If we sweep these guys, watch out! They could be a much more cohesive unit than what most of us think. If our Birds take 2-3, I think 2018 is going to be a fun ride.Just gonna sit this one right here.
May 5, 2018 at 10:36 pm #51086Did anyone really think Bud NOrris was going to go through this season unscathed? I mean this was his 16th appearance in 31 games. Something was bound to happen and honestly I figured after last nights performance he’d be off limits today. Guess Matheny thought otherwise.
We won the series but this is a big loss for this club. I’d almost rather see Hicks or Gregorsen over the 14 million dollar man at this point. This is not good situation to be in.

ParticipantFun facts: Bud Norris has not appeared in games on three straight days all season. He’s only appeared in games on BACK-TO-BACK days 4 times all year. He’s only thrown more than one inning 3 times all year and always had the day off following the multi-inning appearances.
Why is it that every single time a reliever gets injured, it’s the manager’s fault? I don’t get it. It’s funny booyah, I don’t recall you saying you figured Norris would be unavailable before the game. I would have questioned that for sure. They had the day off on 5/3, then he pitched 1 inning Friday (poorly I might add), and he should be off-limits?
