Rats, some other team had to DEVELOP that MOTO bat and really good SP you want. The Cardinals’ plan is to do the development themselves. And if they still have gaps 2-3 years down the road when those additions could help the team go deeper in the playoffs, then they will go into the market. It isn’t going to happen now.
They had the MOTO bat (Contreras) and the really good SP (Gray) you want as recently as last season and the Cardinals still didn’t win. It was because the rest of the roster isn’t good enough. You have to wait until the entire roster improves.

I think it is a fair argument to say the Burly and Herrera don’t fit on the roster together and one should go.
Why do you say that? One plays first and the other DHes. One bats left, the other right. There is no redundancy and neither one of them is blocking anyone else.
The Cardinals already cleared up the redundancy at these positions when they traded Contreras.

I prefer they focus on trading players with contracts expiring this year or next, which neither Burly nor Herrera qualify. The two have relatively low salaries and help keep the team somewhat respectable while player development works on the next generation roster. The best time to flip them is when they are getting expensive and closer to free agency, not now.
But, if I had to choose between the two, I would trade Burly, as he has 2 1/2 years of control remaining while Herrera has 3 1/2. That assumes the take in return would be comparable, which we have no way of knowing.
The #stlcards system was 3-2 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria CF Tai Peete, was 4-for-4 with two solo home runs and a stolen base. Other standouts: Quinn Mathews, Ramon Mendoza, Leo Bernal, Cooper Hjerpe, Jesús Báez and Ty Van Dyke.… pic.twitter.com/Xu8O3fGrya

How do they get middle of the order power bats by trading away two of their middle of the order power bats?
Stepping back, they don’t have enough standout MLB players to be competitive. And they aren’t going to get them by trading the ones they have for others. They need to develop them. That takes time, patience and some good fortune.

We dont really know if the games are on the up n up based on their partnership.
Do you really think that because FanDuel has a partnership with MLB that they can affect Marmol’s decisions or how May pitches and the same with 29 other teams? That seems almost impossible to me.
The Cards’ have one hit, a two-run double from Blaze Jordan. May stranded the bases loaded in the top of the sixth.

The in-game interviews so far have been a real A-list of celebrities. Anthony Reyes, the team’s community relations director and the bullpen catcher (and BP pitcher for Walker). Can’t wait to see who is next!
July 24, 2026 at 8:19 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #103 thread – Friday, July 24 vs. Cincinnati Reds #313945You are right, everyone makes mistakes. However, Rose was not apologetic, and instead was indignant about it. He made his situation worse and got what he deserved, IMO.
July 24, 2026 at 7:28 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #103 thread – Friday, July 24 vs. Cincinnati Reds #313943What Rose did was expressly against MLB rules, which are clear about the punishment, a permanent ban. IMO, it was worse given his role as the manager.
However, I want to point out that as bad as MLB’s gambling “partnerships” are, it is just as much against the rules today as it was 50 years ago to bet on games. And I imagine the penalty would be the same.
If his name was Pete Jones, no one would care. That he was an exceptional player doesn’t change what he did.
Coming off the break, the #stlcards Triple-A Memphis Redbirds went 2-4, all at home. Thomas Saggese hit .333 for the week with four steals and six runs scored, including a two-run walkoff HR on Thursday that broke Memphis’ four-game losing streak. https://t.co/e3NlCjv0Cc pic.twitter.com/gBcu8D61rD

Last night, Palm Beach also set a new team single-season home run record.
With over a month to go in the season, Peoria has already set a new team single-season home run record. Not coincidentally, Jesus Baez, Gurevitch, Cho and Richardson were major contributors.

Is there a source to see videos of our draftees other than X. I just don’t do social media
For reference, there are multiple videos for each draftee in the two free draft day articles on our front page. One stop shopping.
