Hopefully Gibson doesn’t miss any other starts. Tough start for Liberator with such little notice. Doesn’t excuse throwing meat balls though.
Why so Dunn could come up and provide a weak BA with no power? I see no way Dunn provides more value than Gorman over a period of a couple of months. Gorman is a streaky player and probably always will be, but when he is on, he is really on.
AAA numbers are very bloated overall on the offensive side. Many players that are older for the level are “tearing it up”. But hitting in AAA does not translate to hitting in the bigs. MLB pitchers are much better and will exploit weak contact hitters.
Chase Davis’s game logs the last few days are interesting. He has had 15 PA with 8! walks and then a sac fly. He has 3 hits in a total of 6 ABs.
AAA has previously employed full ABS for every pitch 3 games a week with the other 3 being a challenge system. However, MLB has sent a notice to teams that all AAA games will now be a challenge system only.
I’m curious if there are certain pitchers and hitters who you could see doing better with one versus the other and what type of impact it will have on our AAA players. I like the move as the players and coaches in AAA loathed the fully automated system.
Crawford at 3B? First time he has ever played an inning somewhere other than SS or his 1 inning at pitcher
Dunn is a left handed hitter which I think plays a big part in it. We already have a lefty heavy lineup and bench, and we don’t need another. Unless Crawford or Carp get hurt or released, I don’t see Dunn on the team. Dunn also has never played SS so I doubt they even consider dropping Crawford to promote Dunn who is an unproven player.
Ha scouts have their magic ways. For game power though it is based mostly off exit velocity, ability to put the ball in the air, and the hitter ability to consistently square up the ball
Longenhagen at Fangraphs think Winn has 50 power potential which would be 15-20 HRs. I’ll definitely take that out of a SS

If I’m a pitcher, I throw a down and away slider to Arenado every single pitch of every AB. He can’t hit them or even put the bat on them
Fernandez is getting more high leverage opportunities. I like seeing it and am glad the org sees his potential. I see a set up type man in Fernandez.
