Not worried about his era last year just the fact he started 23 games is good. He had TJ surgery 2 or 3 years ago and is finally somewhat healthy. He will dominate this season and bloom will look like a genius.
December 13, 2025 at 4:16 pm #297462Mays primaries are a sweeper and sinker. Average fastball 94-95 in 2025. The numbers are good overall. But health is questionable. He is also only 28. I think it’s a good cheap fit. Maybe a trade chip at the trade deadline?
December 13, 2025 at 4:24 pm #297465I haven’t seen a thing in regards to the dollar amount. But regardless, I’m sure not unhappy about it! Find another guy or two just like this and 2-3 lefty BP guys and they have a very long shot to not suck in 2026.
December 13, 2025 at 4:31 pm #297468Can we all agree Jojo is to valuable to teams trying vs the 2026 St Louis Cardinals?
Pomeranz is at the top of my “wish/hope list”.
Any high upside LHRP’s that you guys have on your wish list that you would love to see on the Cardinals until at least the end of July?
December 13, 2025 at 9:40 pm #297498Katie Woo on Donovan Trade Rumors
One name the Cardinals have inquired on is pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje, a first-round draft pick for Seattle in 2024, who throws both right- and left-handed. Outfielder Lazaro Montes has also been discussed, among others.
Several top prospects have been discussed in negotiations, including infielder Gavin Kilen and left-hander Carson Whisenhunt, according to a league source.
December 14, 2025 at 12:13 am #297502LA card fan, thank you for sharing and he’s interesting but not as a main piece for Donnie please. Seattle has plenty of others.
December 14, 2025 at 12:17 am #297503Montes I’m all for however, mentioned him previously, might take an add on though. Donnie and Church perhaps?
December 14, 2025 at 6:57 am #297514Katie Woo wrote this about why the Dodgers went three years, $69 MM on former Mets closer Alexis Diaz.
“Simply put, because they can. The Dodgers certainly did not need Díaz, but they are one of few teams in the league that could afford him without jeopardizing the rest of their offseason spending. They are also one of few teams willing to take hundreds of millions of dollars in luxury-tax penalties, again because they can.”

The Cardinals are asking for two top-end prospects for Donovan, as stated in the article. It appears they are asking each team for one hitter and one pitcher.
December 14, 2025 at 8:00 am #297517Last year, the Dodgers justified their spending based on how much they made off the World Series. So, it is not “simply because they can”, but rather because they make more money by winning than by losing.
December 14, 2025 at 9:03 am #297523Why would the Cardinals be so foolish as to trade Donnie? DO NOT TRADE HIM.

jj-cf-stlParticipantFrom the Mariners I’d prefer Sloan and Dickerson, but I don’t know how their prospect value compares to Montes and Cijntje.
December 14, 2025 at 9:17 am #297526I like that better as well but would take either scenario, as long as we get 2 prospects of those levels we will do well for Donny.
December 14, 2025 at 9:30 am #297528
jj-cf-stlParticipantMontes is targeting a lh moto outfielder. Sloan prioritizes a SP as the primary and balance it out.
Woo will get this worked out!December 14, 2025 at 10:59 am #297536Asking for two Top 10’s out of the Mariners organization is different than asking for two Top 10’s out of the Giants organization. Both of the players mentioned from the Mariners are Top 100’s, whereas neither of them from the Giants organization are Top 100.
I read last night that the Mariners have built their farm system by not trading any of their Tier 1 guys, they always trade from Tier 2. I guess we shall see.
December 14, 2025 at 11:40 am #297538I’m definitely warming up to the Miguel Andujar idea…. If he can still play the OF, not the DH. I have no clue how good or bad he is in the OF. Is he unplayable out there? Worse than Burly or Walker with the glove?
I don’t dislike defense, but they need to score a few runs to have at least a shot at winning 63 games….
December 14, 2025 at 11:44 am #297540LA, personally I don’t think Donnie alone brings back Montes, Cards sweeten it a bit and maybe get back a future BP arm is my guess as to what it would take.

If they aren’t going to trade him for Donovan alone, they are likely not trading him for anything the Cardinals offer. It sounds like they don’t trade their Tier 1 prospects period. We shall see.
December 14, 2025 at 12:44 pm #297545The Dodgers signing Diaz is not really news. What was news is that they were able to do it on just a 3 year deal. That surprised several in the industry based on what I have heard and read.
I don’t care if the Dodgers have a $1 Billion payroll. I will remain convinced that they win because they do many, many things well. Their entire organization is well ran. The Yankees and Mets spend zillions of dollars too yet Yankees haven’t won a world series since 2009. For the Mets it is 1986.
December 14, 2025 at 1:16 pm #297553Any word on Mays contract $ amount?!
December 14, 2025 at 4:48 pm #297570Is it just me? I’m not very enthused by any of the 4 mentioned, maybe Kilen, but is he more than a Donovan clone?
Cijnje – Is he really more than a gimmick?
Montes – Big time power, but not a great hit tool, K’s a lot and slower than molasses and fielding is a major issue.
Whisenhunt – Can you survie on a plus-plus changeup and not much else.
Kilen – First rounder, 60 hit tool, still young, so maybe?
From the M’s I would prefer Sloan and Arroyo, (one ranledslightly lower and one slightly higher).
Not really seeing any pitchers for SF. I just can’t see taking Whisenhunt as the best of a bad lot of minor league pichers. (And yes, I know he made appearances in the bigs this year.) I suppose Kilen and either Dakota Jordan or Bo Davidson as an OF.
December 14, 2025 at 4:53 pm #297571Why would the Cardinals be so foolish as to trade Donnie? DO NOT TRADE HIM
You have posted this before. Just wondering why you are so adamant?
Seems to me you have to give to get. He is our best ML trade piece, (maybe Winn). By the time this team is ready to contend again, he will be 30 and a FA.
December 14, 2025 at 5:04 pm #297574If this is typical Cardinals form, this leak is not indicative of where Donovan will be traded. I would still bet on Donovan + Contreras to the Boston Red Sox.
It seems like people on this board penalize Cjintje because he pitches with both hands. He had 11.3 K/9 in 2023 and 11.2 in 2024 while halving his walk rate.
In his first year of pro ball, he had a 10.0 K/9 across two levels.
December 14, 2025 at 7:47 pm #297583I like McDonald and Jordan for the Giants if they trade with them. And Woo would great, but I doubt the Mariners trade him.
December 14, 2025 at 8:25 pm #297587I know he sucks in the outfield, but at this point, I am pretty certain I don’t care as much about defense on a pretty bad team. But would prefer them to be respectable, will I be kicked off if I wouldn’t mind them signing Adolis Garcia for, a couple of million bucks?
If I’m going to get banned. I retract that last statement. -
