We finished 2nd to the Yankees once again on the no trade list, looks like.

How well do you prospect guys like LAA 2B/OF RHB Christian Moore? The Angels have one lefty bat (1B).
Should we like Moore in the Gorman, Scott or Church range? How would Moore vs Saggese value look?

Lets be clear about Moore. He’s not an outfielder. Right side arm, has played LF on occasion. Strikes out a lot, in MLB and AAA. Looks like he can’t hit RHP at all. Not sure what his 2B defense looks like.

What about Angel’s prospect Caden Dana RHP?

Christian Moore was spectacular in the College World Series in 2024 – by far the best player of the tournament (offensively, defensively it was Cam Smith). But the Angels did what the Angels do, which is rushed him to MLB in one year. Can’t understand why they think that is a viable strategy.

I am pretty certain I don’t care as much about defense on a pretty bad team.

A big part of the reason the Cardinals have been bad the last few years is that they have fielded two of the worst defensive outfielders in the game (Burleson and Walker) on a consistent basis.

LA, they were also 2nd to last in HR’s…. Hard to mount a comeback if you can’t score a couple quickly.

Especially for 2026, I could care less than zero about “defense”. You can not win a baseball game if you don’t score a single run. Undeniable fact.

And 6th worse in OPS, none that were close made the playoffs FYI. You can miss a fly ball, but if you hit a 3R HR the next inning, you win typically.

A crap team doesn’t need “good defense”…. Hit and then worry about defense

Thanks Bling and LA. I agree the Angels rushed Moore, But didn’t know if he would be redundent with Sagesse or much better.
I know the world has Nado going to the LAA as a best case, but I was considering Gorman from our lefties depth.

Well Adolis Garcia has signed with the Phillies for 1yr/$10M so we can scratch him off of the list.

Can Andujar play the outfield ? His bat is good.

Yes, left field and 3B is what he listed as playing but not sure about his defense.

C27, he can actually hit so he will be fine in LF. If Noot gets back he can play RF.

2/10 with several incentives seems fair.

I like Andujar a lot. He would be a good fit.

I also like Refsnyder. He mashes LH pitching.

I never realized how much Romero, Nootbaar, and Donovan make in salary. But with the exception of Donovan, the salaries seem higher than their value. You could make an argument for Romero too, but a lefty reliever I’d say no, but if he is a closer he’s underpaid. Just thoughts off the top of my head.

The Cardinals would actually have a decent team if they acquired Refsnyder for LF, brought back Abreu as part of a Donovan + Contreras trade to Boston, and then signed a pitcher like Littell in free agency.

I agree LA. Refsnyder and Abreu would be an upgrade over Noot and Walker.

Dustin May’s deal with the St. Louis Cardinals is official, sources tell ESPN. He will make $12.5 million this year, and the mutual option for the 2027 season is for $20 million.

LA, I didn’t look for it, but I did do a run down with May and others inning projections(before any news).

What that determined was they need two more SP(after the May signing) simply to cover innings and 2-3 LHRP. It might be ground hogs day before we have actual answers unfortunately.

I thought they were going to rebuild or refit, whatever you wish to call it. Why sign outside players that will take away chances to look at youngsters. To top it off they signed a mediocre to bad pitcher in May. If you’re going to add a pitcher then at least sign someone who is actually “good.” I read and heard how they were going to hit the ground running. I guess one could interpret what they have done so far as hitting the ground running if one is running in place or on a treadmill. For me it should mean accomplishing something. Maybe there are deals just waiting to be announced and I hope there are but the new POBO is looking like Mo junior.
