if there was any smoke to the Lopez-Cards talk. my guess is the sticking point was in the OF. Cards didn’t want to part with plan 1A or 1B in talks. Leaving us without one. Jazz Chisholm was named to the OF about 5 min after the trade. Lol too much smoke!
Per MLB Trade Rumors, the Braves may not be likely to extend Max Fried. As we really need a #1.

I would probably say no to Walker, pretty much anyone else is available, depending on the final deal.
Not sure I would deal Walker and Wynn together in any deal. Though, you have to give to get.
Based upon Mo’s signaling, I don’t see him trading trading Walker or Wynn for anything. I disagree with that mindset. Neither of them have faced AAA or MLB level competition yet, other than a handful of encounters during AFL. It is possible that, as to either or both, their value will never be higher than it is right now. Mo should at least be open to the possibility that a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
Fried has 2 years of control. I do not trade Walker for him. I would be reluctant to trade Wynn for him. He would be what the Cardinals NEED, however. If they could sign him to a 5 or6 year extension, now, it would be worth it. He just turned 29 so he has that many good seasons ahead of him unless he gets injured.
I really can’t see the Braves trading Fried, however.
The Braves are in win now world series mode. I highly doubt they would trade their best pitcher but even so I am not trading Walker. Not sure about Wynn.
Braves are currently at 195mil for opening day payroll (#8). If they are selling, you don’t want it (Ozuna, Rosario, etc.).
I would take on Rosario if the Cardinals could get an ace without giving up too much. Only 1 year of guaranteed salary and a capable backup for the OF. Considering we would probably need to give an OF (O’Neill) to get Fried.
Even if the Braves feel they can’t extend Fried they don’t have to trade him right now. They might as well try to win a world series in 2023 then could move him next winter. His value might be a little less then but winning a world series has value also and their chances of winning it are higher with him on the roster. It seem illogical for them to trade him now. They are not in rebuilding mode.

They won their division the last five years and won a world series two years ago. So, that’s a bit of an understatement.
If the Braves, who sign everyone to early extensions, won’t sign Fried, that’s a bit of a red flag anyway. I feel like our best hope to add an ace would be for Cleveland or Philadelphia to fall out of contention early enough that we might be able to snag one of Bieber or Nola.
With Gavin Lux out for the year with an injury I still think Paul DeJong would make sense for the Dodgers. Maybe the Cards could swing a trade and get the Dodgers to take on some of Paul’s salary.
The offense is looking super solid right now…hopefully the pitching can be further shored up sometime this year.

That is a lot going the other way and Liberatore-Herrera might be their battery for the next 10 years. Risky, but it puts us in a great place to win the next couple of years at least.
Yeah, could be. They would be gambling that Liberatore-Herrera will bring more value than Alcantara over the next five years or so. That’s not going way out on a limb, but Sandy is certainly more of a sure thing. Anything they got from O’Neill and Hicks would be a plus.
For their part, to make the deal really work to their advantage they would be banking on O’Neill and Hicks playing well for them, and then flip them at the trade deadline for more high end but unproven talent.
I think that the Marlins would request something like Donovan, Carlson, Hence and Winn for Alcantara. That’s a heavy price, for sure. Yet, the trade simulator actually says that’s not enough and adding Herrera might be the needed sweetener. Alcantara is one of the most valuable related to his contract in the league.
