stlcard25ParticipantA fairly underwhelming return…the Rangers’ #30 prospect and Delino Deshields, who has never really broken out at the big league level and is arbitration eligible. The Rangers are going for it.
OF Delino DeShields Jr. and RHP Emmanuel Clase heading to #Indians for Kluber, source tells The Athletic.

December 15, 2019 at 12:54 pm #11683129 of 30 teams have added at least one player to their 40 man rosters that wasn’t in their organization in 2019. That one team that hasn’t made an addition is the Cardinals.
December 15, 2019 at 1:03 pm #116833Based on immediate social media reaction, fans of the other 28 teams believe their club could have offered more for Kluber. It suggests to me that Cleveland has doubts about his health/effectiveness.
December 15, 2019 at 1:25 pm #116834Agree BW. Something isn’t right about that deal. Salary dump for a never will be and a hope.
December 15, 2019 at 1:41 pm #116838If 28 other teams were willing to offer more then why didn’t Cleveland take it>
December 15, 2019 at 3:02 pm #116839We have no way to know if other teams were willing. I was sharing my assessment of fan reaction.
Man, it must hurt to be a Cleveland fan. First Bauer and now Kluber. Heyman at least speculates they may hold onto Lindor since they saved all of Kluber’s salary.
Chances for a Lindor trade, likely never great to begin with, may have diminished a bit further after Kluber contract was dealt. With trade Indians saved just about the whole amount owed CK

December 15, 2019 at 3:20 pm #116840Sounds like the Indians got a pretty good reliever in Emmanuel Clase. Would they now be more open to discussions about trading Brad Hand? Hand had what was called a ‘tired elbow’ for a short time last season, so there would be significant risk in acquiring him since elbow injuries usually don’t just go away and stay away. It helps that he only has one year of guaranteed money left on his current contract. Still, it would suck big time if the Cardinals acquired yet another reliever who turned out to be of no help to the team.
December 15, 2019 at 5:23 pm #116850Somewhere, Bud Selig raised his fist and mumbled, "See, competitive balance!" https://t.co/B0GYpuWKUm

December 15, 2019 at 9:40 pm #116874Hashtag trynottosuck…… Very disconnected with hashtag dontbesocheapdewalletwinagainbeforetouareold
December 16, 2019 at 5:39 am #116875Does acquiring DeShields imply that Cleveland is not sold 100% on Mercado?
December 16, 2019 at 1:43 pm #116918If the Cards would sign Keuchel or Ryu, which I doubt, who is most vulnerable on the 40 man roster? Urias? Trade?
December 16, 2019 at 3:25 pm #116921I’m going top say Ravelo is most vulnerable. He’s two years older than Urias, and only plays 1B.
December 16, 2019 at 5:15 pm #116929I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go after both a starter and a reliever. Remember there is no closer, either. I think they will look for a Bud Norris type to help out.
December 17, 2019 at 2:36 pm #116998Question: Bartolo Colon vs Albert Pujols in a foot race…. who wins?
December 17, 2019 at 3:21 pm #117013Albert has too much pride to lose, but would probably suffer a season-ending injury in the process…
December 17, 2019 at 4:06 pm #117026The #STLCards feel they’re covered on starting pitching now. They’ll stay in touch on other free agents in case something falls in their lap, basically. Next focus is retaining Marcell Ozuna or finding a lefty bat.

December 17, 2019 at 5:03 pm #117042Saw Betts from the Red Sox might be going to the Dodgers…
December 17, 2019 at 5:31 pm #117049To free up a 40 man spot, what about Adolis Garcia and Gant to the Tigers for Joey Wentz?
December 17, 2019 at 5:38 pm #117050BW, how long would this race be? Ninety feet is to far!

Add Yadi into the mix. You could time it with a sun dial.

ParticipantColon by a nose over pujols.
December 18, 2019 at 6:03 pm #117114Colon by a gut over Pujols. Of couse Yadi would probably lose to both of them.
December 18, 2019 at 10:06 pm #117128Hmmm, this sprint could rival the Kentucky Derby as the most exciting 2 minutes in sports.
December 19, 2019 at 6:53 am #117131Euro, 2 minutes, so are you suggesting a 60 feet dash instead of 90? 😁
