Yeah, I just found it on this fan fold channel directory thing that is about 8 pages and is not organized in any kind of logical way. Its in the same section as Spanish language Nickelodeon.

Yeah, I have a TV in my 1TD den that I watch the games on and I always like to have the thing preset and honed in to the channel for the upcoming game. If by some off chance Mrs. 1TD turns the thing on while I’m away and changes the channel over to one of her illustrious cooking or dance contest channels there’s a very real possibilty that I’ll miss the entire first inning before I can navigate my way back to the area of baseball sanity…Haha! It’s enough to give a woodpecker a headache.

Seems to me that there are 2 roster spots up for grabs. 2nd left handed reliever and 7th infielder. Maybe Naughton or Cabrera, and Fermin (is he healthy?). I am basing on the players who are on the 40 man roster who have an advantage. Not sure who is added if Fermin and Dejong are both hurt. I also am assuming that the roster size is 26

I saw the PD report that Crooks caught for AA and Bernal for High-A. Do we know if that signals the level they will start at this year? I had assumed they would both start one level lower.

Gags, i would say definately not. Particularly since we have Herrera, Pages and others still in major league camp. When those guys get sent tô minors camp it can easily knock everone down at least a rung.

40 man is at 39 I believe and they will add Walker and Motter.

They need to clear a spot then.

Doesn’t Waino being on the IL open up a roster spot until he gets off the IL, or has that already been taken under consideration?

Yeah, they sure do. Best I can tell, Suarez.

I’ve been focusing on the 26 man, so I’m not entirely certain, Mudville, but I’m pretty sure it has.

Cabrerra, Romero and Yepez have all been optioned, so the only other guy I can think of would be Suarez.

Wainwright has not been placed on the 60 day DL so his spot on the 40 man is not opened up. Suarez is not on the 40 man roster, he was is camp as a non-roster invitee.

No, he’s on the IL with DeJong and W. Rodriguez. How’s that work?

He is on the IL, so he can be replaced on the active roster by somebody else who is on the 40 man. But Waino is still on the 40 man so his spot is not opened up. If he gets put on the 60 day IL, then his 40 man spot is opened up, but he cannot return for 60 days.

Okay, well I hope he’s not down for the 60. You’re right about Suarez. There’s two articles in the Post. One of them is up to speed with an accompanying article that reads, “from earlier.” The one that’s up to speed of course leads with Walker on the 26 man, but also clearly states that Yepez, Cabrerra and Romero have been optioned with both Burleson and Motter (as you predicted) in St. Louis on opening day.

They could open a spot by putting someone else from the 40 man roster on the 60 day DL. W-Rod with his sore shoulder maybe, or PDJ with the sore back. Or they could try passing someone through waivers to remove him from the 40 man, like they tried to do with Pacheco except somebody claimed him. Or they could trade a 40 man roster guy for a minor leaguer. Or send W-Rod back to the Yankees. They have until opening day to do something.

Yeah, there’s a third and most recent article in the Post that stressed they have until Thursday to make a decision. In any event, it looks to me that Motter on the 26 man was the move that created the need to remove someone from the 40. I was at first surprised to see he was going to be in St. Louis, but after a second glance, it made sense. He’s spent time in a Big League clubhouse and the only other option as a failsafe due to our friend Paulie’s sore back was Winn. I guess they thought both Walker and Winn starting the season on the 26 man was too big of a splash…Haha!

I think Brian mentioned, or implied, that removing Pacheco from the 40 man was intended to make a spot available for Walker should it be decided to add him. But things change and it happened that a need arose and Motter clearly outplayed any possibles already on the 40 man. So the worm has more turning yet to do.

Wilking was to be reevaluated in a week. That was on the 23rd.

Wainwright was reported to miss several weeks. What is several weeks? He’ll have to go through some rehab and then you’d think he’d need a couple or 3 weeks to build up into being game ready. I’m thinking depending on where they’re at on Wednesday that will determine what happens.

Naughton and Motter probably won’t last long.

For instance, the much traveled Motter is 33 years old and has the following career slash line in his 446 major league plate appearances over the past 6 years – .191/.262/.309/.572. Ugh.
