The worst fielding I have noticed in this exercise was Richie Allen at third base.

I put him at LF, where he’s probably not going to be good. But I have a GG CF, a solid RF, and some very good defensive IFers right now (Rolen, Goldy, Frisch and Wallace combine for 68.2 dWAR on BRef) so I’m hoping that one player won’t butcher my defense.

Oh I was gonna take Richie and put him in left, too. That bat is elite.

I forgot that Davis even played for the Cards. Great athlete though, feels like he underachieved a bit in his career but he did accumulate a good bit of value.

I also like mud’s progressive picks there. Bader may be as good with the glove as anyone who ever played CF for the Cards. O’Neill could be a legit star if he follows up his 2021 with another year near it and manages to stay healthy.

Great pick. Silent George was an excellent CFer at one point. Just glided along like Dexter Fowler for a comp.

Loved watching Silent George hit. He had the whip action, snapping those wrists to create bat speed. Same style of hitting that Hank Aaron had. Hank was in a class by himself though.

Nice take on Minoso forschie. 50+ WAR – excellent player. Unfortunately we got him too late, and he had a couple of bad injuries in his only year with our club.

Alright, I am going to finish off my starting 8, although stlcard25 keeps benching Ducky Medwick. From what I have heard and read about him, the Duck would not take too kindly to the reserve role.

So here we go. One of those scrappy guys that helped your club win without being noticed much. Managed the Cardinals for awhile as well. I recall a Sports Iilustrated issue somewhere in the back of my mind when he and Leo Durocher were hired to manage the White Sox and Cubs that had a caption something like “The Brat and The Lip Take Charge In Chicago.”

Ha! I was trying to figure out why he went back to the bench in my update. Turns out that I didn’t fix my master document, so when I added all the picks and copied it over, it included Medwick on the bench. It has been edited, so it shouldn’t be an issue going forward.
