It’s about time the Cardinals took a player from Tennessee. The school is a talent pipeline to the professional ranks with the best coach in college ball. There is already three or four guys from the last three teams that are in the majors.

Can someone explain to me how Doyle is much better than Zack Thompson? I’m struggling to feel too enthused about the pick. Once Willits went, the guys I really had a lot of interest in went out (knowing Holliday was a lock at 4).
Other than them both being lefthanded I don’t see much comparison to Zach Thompson, doesn’t mean he will pan out but his secondary pitch is not a sweeping curve like Thompson and he has more velocity with high whiff rate on his fastball
Not a fan of the pick at all, feel he will be nothing more than a relief pitcher and that is a waste of a top 5 pick
I don’t understand the comps to Thompson either beyond throwing leftie. Doyle has a legit 80 grade fastball with top of the line velo but also bat missing carry. For a direct comparison as well, Thompson was rated a 45 FV at draft time while Doyle is a 55 (top 30 prospect in baseball already). Description for Thompson at the time said #4 upside while Doyle is #1 upside.
Yeah bccran I’m a little surprised with Aloy’s power projection he is still available. I doubt he lasts until the Cards pick next though, but I would take him for the upside. I want a lot of risky picks that are pure upside focused and Aloy fits that
Well as we say that BC, there goes Aloy. I like him. Very athletic great looking frame to dream on power
If Henry Ford is there, I would take him. 70 grade power upside. Good performer who despite his power doesn’t strike out at that high of a rate. The tools are there and I would immediately move him to RF rather than sticking with C for him. He would also fit Bling’s big OF criteria although he isn’t very athletic. Chance to be an impact bat though.
From what I read he doesn’t have a ss arm, and projects more to CF or corner OF, but he is an advanced hitter with good discipline
Yeah the more I read I really like the pick. Still has projection to fill out and add more power up to a 55 grade and an average hit tool. If he can stick in CF that would be great to see as he progresses. He has a lot more upside than guys the Cards have been drafting lately.
I wonder if Henry Ford may end up going to TN for his Jr year (he was a draft eligible Sophomore). He has good upside and I could see him jumping into the 1st round under Vitello at TN after next year. I would see if they can use some of that bonus money to convince him to sign.
Witherspoon’s twin brother went 62nd to the Tigers….I saw them both pitch quite a bit, I really liked Kyson who went to Boston…didn’t really see Malachi as that good of a prospect but he has some tools may be a later developer
