Edman has looked good in the post season, even from the left side. I questioned if he would ever be healthy enough this year to contribute much, and thus was not too concerned that we let him go. But he has gone from a long IL stint to now hitting clean up for an NLCS team. Quite a trip up the elevator.
And Rats, sounds good on “Mannix”. I have never watched it much, but they are showing them on one of the channels on Pluto, a free streaming service we have on Roku. So I have been watching one and sometimes two episodes in the morning on weekdays as I get in my workout and then have a healthy breakfast.
Oh, first I watch the highlights of the previous days playoff game(s) on the MLB app, then switch over to “Mannix” on Pluto.
After that and getting cleaned up it’s stock market analysis and possibly doing some trades, then catching up with emails and checking in here.
This retired life is nice, although the morning workout routine I have been doing for some 20 years now. But all those working years I would get up at 4am – now I sleep in until 6. 😀
Heading into tonight’s turn vs. the Dodgers, Quintana will be working on a streak of 16.1 IP’ed without allowing an ER in the post-season. That means if he can continue that post-season scoreless streak for 16.2 more IP’ed, he’ll catch fellow lefty Whitey Ford…Haha!
…and Ford eclipsed another fellow lefty, Babe Ruth. Ruth held the record that Whitey Ford broke, and I believe he always said it was the mark he was most proud of.
Yeah, he sure did, Bikemike. And although not a lefty, a fellow Yankee named Rivera surpassed Ford with a post-season scoreless streak of 33.1 consecutive IP’ed without allowing an ER. However, what I think is mind boggling about Whitey Ford is that he worked 146 IP’ed in WS competition. No one’s anywhere near close with Christy Mathewson placing second at 101.2 WS IP’ed.
The Tribe with this 2 run lead in the 7th is in position to deploy “The Party’s Over” BP. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a set of arms for the late innings of a game like the kind Cleveland throws at you. It’s no joke.
Soto does what he does and reaches base on a 2 out BB with Judge stepping in as the tying run. Enter Clase.
Oh boy…Stanton with the solo tater to lift the Yankees to a 4-3 lead. Too many horses in the Yankee stable.
Two huge Yankee taters in this visitor half of the 8th. Clase allowed just 2 HR’s in 74.1 IP’ed during the entire ’24 regular season.
The Yankees throw Soto, Judge and Stanton into the battle and the Tribe counters with Fry…Still 4-3 Yankees.
The Tribe wins it on the 2 run walk-off tater from Fry in extras…Best baseball game of this post-season so far.
Finally a game worth watching! Yankees were pretty sure they had this one in the eighth. But why do they keep calling Clase the most dominant closer in the league when Helsley and Clase had the same # of saves? Bugs me to no end that they don’t even mention Helsley. Haven’t been on the board for a few days, so maybe already discussed. And oh by the way, unfortunately Clase didn’t look so dominant tonight.
As I’m typing Fry walks it off. Wow! What a win.
No question Helsley was real good, but Clase finished up the regular season with an ERA of 0.61 in over 74 IP’ed…Haha! That’s almost not fair.
Eddie with a real nice play from deep in the 6 hole to get the 3rd out on the force at 2B. He’s flashing plenty of those Little Eddie skills in this ’24 post-season.
Well, if you pitch around Ohtani, here comes Betts. If you somehow retire Betts you get Hernandez. And if those three aren’t enough of a nightmare you get, Little Eddie…Haha!
The tribe had just tied the game up as i was taking my grandson out for a nightly stroll. Come back and see they completed comeback. Fine with me, tribe would have been done for sure if they lost. Just gives us more baseball. Personally i question bringing in the closer in the 8th unless they did it all season. They would have been fine with who was pitching before him.
