I will watch whoever gets there in the Series. I am hoping for San Diego vs Cleveland-Detroit. But think the Yankees will chalk up another pennant to run their total to I don’t know, but it’s way up there.

A subway series would be kind of cool though. I like those Mets classic uniforms they went back to. For awhile there they had a lot of black in the uni’s and it just did not look right. The blue and orange was originally chosen to pay homage to the Dodgers and Giants, former Big Apple tennants.

Tonight’s Padres/Dodgers game should be a genuine battle between two very good teams, but I’m going to boldly predict that the team with the Manny will come out on top. When two teams are evenly matched, the scale seems to always tip in the favor of the team with a Manny…

Of course, it never hurts to have a player named Shohei or Mookie…Or even, Freddie.

I’m fine with a Padres win too!
    Or an edman win!

Haha…Yeah, it’s kind of nice to be able to just enjoy the action and not get amped up to the degree that the end table lamps are at risk.

DP’s have snuffed a couple rallies.

4 IP, 2 hits each team, and these are real good lineups getting shut down.

Headed to the 5th, 1-0 Dodgers

Yeah, you’d think it was Chris and Roy working this game 5.

Well, that’s settled. The TV folks will like this NLCS.

The Mets have about $200 MM for current players and $100 MM on former Mets. Some try to discredit it for that reason. I don’t because it shows they can buy their way out of their mistakes.

The 4th team in the Final Four (Tigers or Guardians) will be a low payroll team at least.

Yes, but whichever one it is will also carry the worst odds of advancing.

Based on the most recent odds, the Yankees have a 66.7% likelihood of beating Detroit and 65.5% likelihood of beating Cleveland.

    WS odds
    NYY 7/4
    LAD 7/2
    NYM 7/2
    Det 10/1
    Cle 11/1

Indians and their airtight BP advance to the ALCS. If they have a late lead, the party’s over.

If the Yankees and Dodgers play in the World Series who will have home field advantage?

Oh, wait, I forgot, the All Star Game decides that.

So, I forgot, who won the ASG?

I thought HFA went to the team with the best regular season W/L record?

Edit…I just looked it up and, the best I can tell, HFA would go to the Dodgers as they had the best W/L pct. in the Big Leagues.

    1td,
Thanks for the info. I thought it was still the stupid ASG that determined home field. Glad it’s not. I guess I am behind the times.

I will tell everyone this – if it’s the Mets and Cleveland in the World Series I will not be watching. That would be a yawner.

I wasn’t sure, Rats. They change the rules like they change their socks these days. It’s not always easy to keep up with these whiz-kids.

Edit…And I’ll watch the WS no matter who advances, but I’d also prefer a Yankees/Dodgers matchup and a possible appearance of the ghost of Billy/Tommy at Yankee or Dodger Stadium…Haha!

Per Statista, Bill DeWitt is MLB’s seventh wealthiest owner with a net worth of $4 billion. Note Cleveland is also considered a mid-market team, but their owners are wealthier than DeWitt. Spotrac has the Guardians’ payroll ranked 23rd. at just under $107 MM.

Willie Jr. won’t be happy about placing a sad 7th in the hierarchy of baseball billionaires. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t read the riot act to his vast corporate group instructing them to turn the crank a bit faster so as to increase the value of stock holdings thus lifting him a little higher than a sad 7th on the billionaire boy’s club list…Willie Jr. don’t play that stuff.

Forbes valued the Cardinals’ franchise at $2.55B in early 2024. With the Cardinals’ attendance tanking the way it has, I would think that valuation is down to about what the Royals are supposedly worth which is $1.23B according to Forbes. That would cut WDWJr’s net worth down by $1B or so.

I wonder what Jon Lester did today.
