Mike Shildt showed off his 4-letter playoff vocabulary again, lol, commenting after the game about the 7th-inning extracurriculars. This time, however, it’s okay for the whole family to hear. “Dude” is the word. He coaches a team of dudes who take care of business in the face of hostility. Jeter, ARod, Big Papi and Vasgersian got a kick out of it.

The Tigers go with who’s purported to be their best SP’er in this afternoon’s game in Cleveland. I don’t know much about him other than he’s a lefty who’s only allowed 4 ER’s in his last 30 innings of work. If I’m a Detroit fan, I like the idea of pinning my hopes on Skubal. Hey, his name looks like it rhymes with screwball…I wonder if he features one?

No longer perfect, but Skubal working 67 pitches thru 5 scoreless on only 1 hit. Meanwhile, Boyd gives way to Smith after 4.2 IP’ed. A scoreless draw headed to the home half of the 6th.

Herrin hands Detroit a 2 out BB in the 7th. The 3rd of the game from Cleveland pitchers.

And follows with a K of Sweeney to end the inning. Tight game. We’ll see who blinks first.

Skubal still working in the 7th. Wish we had this guy. He looks a lot better than Matz…

Skubal sets down the side in order to get thru 7 full on 92 pitches. If I’m Hinch, Tarik gets the baseball to start the 8th.

Vierling laces one into the LCF gap for a 1 out, standup double. One run may win this game.

Gaddis K’s Sweeney for out number 2 and an IBB to Greene before exiting to make way for RHP Clase to enter the game and work to Perez who stands in from the LH side.

Uh oh…Huge challenge here as it looked as though Kwan may have trapped the 3rd out in LF. Tigers are saying it’s a 2 out RBI single from Perez, but the out call stands up after the organized gamblers…er…uh… officials in NY review the replay…Haha! Looked like Kwan may have trapped it to me.

Detroit a 3-run dong in the top of the 9th off of Clase. I believe the guys name was Robertson?

3-0 Tigers heading to the last of the 9th.

Tigers win it to tie this series at 1 game apiece on the 9th inning 3 run tater from Carpenter. Anyone who didn’t see this one missed a real good Big League post-season baseball game. Detroit looks to have a really nice LH’ed SP’er in Skubal. He K’s 8 and allows 0 ER’s, 3 hits and 0 BB’s in 7 IP’ed of real nice work. Maybe we can get this guy to replace Matz…

    Edit…I almost forgot…Go Royals!

The Tigers and Mets really have come a long way since July. And they both split their series’ in the other club’s park. Some real good baseball this post season.

That was a real entertaining game, huh, Bikemike? I thought Kwan trapped the would be Perez RBI single in the visitor half of the 8th and then the leaping grab from CF’er Meadows to rob Manzardo of a HR in the home half dialed the action up another notch. Intense, pressure cooker, post-season baseball. I hope all these LDS go the distance.

Just think, if there were 30 more teams, there’d be 4 more LDS. I can’t calculate how many more WCS there’d be…

Pedro continues to put on the weight. If he isn’t careful, Zimmer will be able to beat him up…

Ragans promptly BB’s the Yankee lead-off man and follows up with another BB to Soto. That oughta quiet the NY crowd at Yankee Stadium.

I know a lot of baseball fans don’t like the NY Yankees and while I’m certainly not someone who ejoys watchng them win championships, I have to concede that there’s nothing quite like a post-season baseball game played at Yankee Stadium. Go Royals!

Im actually a big yankee fan. I always hope for a cards/ yanks series but both times in recent memory it was possible, bad things happened. The cards blew a 3-1 series lead vs atlanta in 96 and then the yankees blew the 3-0 series lead in 2004. While i liked jeter n the boys, i still favor the late 70s yankess with reggie jackson

Perez destroys a lifeless hanging breaking ball from Rondon to tie it up at 1-1. Perez is strong as a bull. I liked watching that baseball leave the playing field and so did George Brett as he watched it from his sky box…Go Royals!

I’m with you, Willie. While they’re not my favorite team, it’s hard to be a baseball fan and not respect the NY Yankees.

Edit…And Thurman Munson was one of my favorite players of the 70’s. In my view, he should be in the HOF and I don’t understand why he isn’t.

Nice…Pham lifts the Royals to a 2-1 lead with a solid RBI base hit!
