No question that fans in Philly aren’t bashful about voicing any displeasure, but they also make a lot of noise when their team has success. Citizen’s Bank has to be one of the most raucous sports venues in the U.S.
1TD, I would watch the postseason if I could with MLB TV. I watched the Mets Phillies last night since it was on a local channel, but the others are blacked out. MLB really needs to make a deal they can sell an extra package with postseason access.
I’ll be darned, ATM. We have AT&T cable, but I would have thought MLB TV subscribers would be able to get the entire post-season. That’s disgraceful on the part of MLB. Sorry you can’t tune in.
Phils should boo Santa for their pitchers giving anything to Vientos to hit. You know, don’t walk him, but don’t give him anything to hit.

Mets tied it in the 9th on a 2-run dong by Vientos.
It’s always real bad trouble to push the winning run into scoring position with a BB, but there’s no way the Mets pitcher Megill can give in to Harper once the count ran full. I don’t guess it matters, but I’d rather say Castellanos sent me home than to get beat by the monster Bryce Harper.
Flaherty getting touched up for the 2 early HR’s, but at least they were both of the solo tater variety.
I don’t guess many Cardinal fans watch these post-season games. Maybe that’s true regarding all baseball fans when their favorite team doesn’t qualify for a berth. In any case, I still really enjoy watching these high stakes Oct. baseball games.
I’m with you, 1TD. No real dogs in these fights, but I enjoy watching baseball played at a high level with all the stakes on the line. These pitchers, especially, are at a much higher level than our Cards. The need for some top tier starters is striking as I watch these teams compete. Just confirming what we knew early in the year, but here we are.
Yeah, 4Ev, the turn yesterday from Wheeler was really impressive and it’s always fun to see these players dial it up another a notch or two during the post-season. I also like seeing the fans getting amped up and having fun although some of these games aren’t for the fainthearted. In reality it’s kind of nice to be able to enjoy the action without being at risk of cardiac arrest as a result of your favorite team being excluded from the action. I’m sure I speak for quite a few Redbird fans when I say that I’m still a bit surpised I survived game 6 among others…Haha!
That was an outstanding fastball to feather the outer paint to get Machado with the K after not getting the call on the 2-2 and having the count run full. Jack made a pitch.
Edit…Uh oh…Jack has to work his mouth on the way to the dugout and ruin the moment by firing up this Padre team. Jack may not ever grow up.
No oven mitts tonight out there for the Padres. I recall that Schildt’s teams always seemed to be defensively sound and secure when he was managing in StL.
Watched a little of both games today. Missed the best part of the first. This second one has been a little boring but at least san diego is winning. I dont really care but i like to see close series so they potentially go all games as long as it isnt cardinals. Stressful times then

Haha. What goes around, comes around. Jack evidently thinks Manny’s first name is Mother, lol, as he called him that when he told him to go sit down in the dugout. My lip reading skills aren’t great, but did he say his last was Tucker? Anyway, Manny got a 2-out, bases-empty hit in the 8th to precede Merrill’s 2-run HR.
That ought to do it for the Padres. Merrill looks like he could be really good for a long time. I read somwehere that his rookie season has displayed more clutch hitting in high leverage situations than any rookie in history. I don’t know exactly how they figure that, but it sounds impressive. Jackson looks like a good one.
Yeah, Jack just can’t control the impulse to say silly things while on or off the field. He’s fortunate that pitchers no longer have to stand inside of a batter’s box. Time was, pitchers knew that they would eventually be held accountable for the manner in which they behaved while they were situated out on the mound. Now, they can simply take refuge in the relative safety of their team’s dugout.
Yeah, Willie, the deeper these series go, the more entertaining they seem to get. I always like to see them go the distance.
Darvish takes a turn today that was more impressive than that of Wheeler’s in yesterday’s Mets/Phillies game. Took him only 82 pitches to work thru 6 IP’ed. Meanwhile, the Padres are producing more taters that Ore-Ida…That’s a half dozen HR’s in tonight’s game for SD.
With the score saying it’s 10-1, this contest is over. But one of these days a team is going to complete a monumental and heroic comeback by scoring up to 7 or 8 runs in the last inning of a postseason game that will make baseball history. Eventually it has to happen simply because it’s baseball. I just hope I’m around to see it.
