Little league throw from Carlson in RF but Carlos K’s Davis to end the inning. Another questionable play by O’Neill in LF when Nimmo scored. Carlos was hit hard and leaving the ball up, a lot.

The bottom of the 2nd was typical Carlos of late. Starts off by K’ing a guy on three dominant pitches, then walks a guy on four straight balls, then works a full count before striking out batter three. Oh, and then Yadi bails him out by throwing out a guy trying to steal.

Molina with 2 singles off the lefty, much like his career. O’Neill has ripped two singles off Peterson which is good to see with his reverse splits at mlb to date.

Carlos with two nice innings, getting lazy fly balls off the 85mph changeup. Hit 98mph during the 4th inning.

O’Neill with his third hit off a lefty, this one a dbl down the LF line. Ball is jumping off his bat.

Carp dbls off the RF wall, vs another lefty, to get his first ST hit as O’Neill scores.

Hicks enters bottom of 5th and issues a 22 pitch BB to Guillermo. About that put away pitch……

Hicks’ first batter back is a 22 pitch grueler including 16 foul balls. My goodness. On the plus side, he threw 17 strikes. On the negative side, he didn’t miss the bat much.

Williams hits two batters in a row, including our future leadoff man Nimmo. It’s a danger zone for Williams.

This came into play after the Guillorme at-bat. The umps allowed Shildt to call out the trainer, making Hicks’ removal medical.

Carp dbls off the RF wall

Shift can’t do anything to stop that.

A nightmare inning for the Cards pitching staff. 4 runs in and no one out, and they trail 6-4.

Nice charging play behind the mound by Carp to end the inning.

You can see some of the pieces that will make for a good big leaguer in Gorman, even as he struggles a bit at the plate. He has quick hands and movements at 3B we saw on the double play in the 5th and again on the liner to start the 7th. He will really benefit by playing this year at Memphis and getting confidence in seeing balls go over the fence against lesser competition in smaller ball parks.

No TV or radio here. How’s the outfield doing today?

Bc, Carlson is 0-3 and at bat now. Bader finished up 0-4 on the day. O’Neill went 3-3.

Carlson just K’ed on a fastball. Not a great spring for him so far.

Here’s a Dennis Ortega sighting. Is this his first appearance of the spring? He was a stud in his winter league season, so it will be interesting to see if he can continue it.

O’Neill may be coming into his own.

Btw, Carp has two barrels today, the other a 101.3 mph EV fly out. Good sign for him.

not surprised 25, Carp led the club in sweet spot % last season.

That would be an excellent development for the team. Tyler will probably always be a bit streaky, but he’s probably going to be a high exit velocity guy who will gather some extra base hits. He’d be an ideal #4 hitter if he can tap into the power and cut the Ks some.

Gorman whiffed on that last pitch by about a foot. His plate discipline will surely need to be refined this year in the minors.
