O’Neill really seems to be using the opposite field more this spring. He clearly has the pop to hit the ball out anywhere he hits it, so hopefully it becomes something he can take advantage of.

Gallegos looking bad tonight. Can’t seem to find the zone, and when he finally did, it got hit hard. Bases loaded with nobody out and clinging to a 1 run lead.

Just like that, he gets a k and a double play and is out of the jam!

Yes gallegos turned that around fast.

Rondon hit another ball hard though out. I am liking him. Gorman strikes out. My take is he’s not ready for prime time just yet.

Whitley’s changeup is filthy. Gotta love it. That’s a 1-2-3 for him.

Don’t want to read anything into it, but still interesting Gallegos took 8 and Helsley 9. Earlier, Shildt listed their names in the other order.

Did you mean gallegos and whitley there Brian, helsley pitched earlier.

Yes, thanks for the correction. So really, the order of names Shildt shared was totally irrelevant. Whitley wasn’t even on the list. Never mind!

It could have been that someone didn’t go as long as they were supposed to. Or just an oversight, hard to say

I don’t see any games being on tv this weekend unless on something other than fox midwest. Just basketball, such a bummer. Showing memphis grizzlies really what a joke.

I haven’t seen any so far. Can someone say how Carp looks at the plate?

That is right. Next FSMW game is Monday, with Sunday on SNY (and MLB.TV). The spring TV schedule on all channels is on our homepage.

Well blingboy from my limited amount of viewing, I think carp looks the same but I haven’t got to actually watch a lot. He hasn’t had a hit but that’s not totally indicitive of anything. Though he has had a lot of opportunity so it isn’t like a small sample.

Outfield did indeed have a fine evening.
4 out of 9 with a home run. Good to see.
Now we need to get PDJ going.

I’ll go out on a limb and say Shildt likes Edman at leadoff.

Thanks 1982 willie. I notice in Hummel’s racap article Carp advanced a runner in the 4th with a deep fly to the opposite field. Not Carp like to go oppo. I also notice he seems to have quit striking out a lot as he did the first few games. He walked in his final AB, which says he is not pressing too much to get that first hit. I am not sure what all that adds up to.

bccran, we need to get the whole heart of the order going. PDJ, Goldy and NA have all been quiet at the dish.

It seems that Rondon is getting the looks more so than Sosa.

bb – I’m not worried at all about Arenado and Goldy. They’ll be fine. But whomever is batting 4th is going to need protection. That 5th slot is going to be key.
Ideally, it would be PDJ or O’Neill. Maybe Carlson. One of them needs to step up and grab it. If they don’t, Shildty may have to go back to Yadi for contact.

Now Nogowski with his 4th hit to drive in his 4th run after Toerner stole 2nd. 6-3 Cards.

I liked the way Carp kept the front shoulder in vs the lefty Peterson, eventually drawing the BB to load the bases for Rondons 2 rbi single w/2 outs.

Carlos is being hit hard again. This is a good Mets lineup, but it’s difficult to feel much confidence in this starting rotation right now.
