“Carp looked to have a bit more zip on his throw to first in the top of the 2nd there. Maybe the strength training was for real?”

His arms are visibly bigger…is it possible that he won’t stink this season?

Also the wind was blowing in on that. It hung up a good long while.

I know how we like to bring up the wind down in Florida aiding long balls. Makes some look like ST Mark McGwire’s. lol this wasn’t the case here.

    That was wind aided.

Kim looks solid! The walk could have easily been a K.

Jim Edmonds just said that he didn’t pay attention to the majority of the Astros situation because he said he honestly wasn’t surprised.

Single to left from left side of plate, nice swing to dump it over there!

BC, I missed Gorman’s hit. Hard hit, or a pop up like Carpenters?

    Kru needed the DP ball.

Following on Gameday. The local NY channel is showing the other half of the Mets split squad team at their home in PSL. Go figure.

Gorman has hit the ball hard and his hit was pretty well struck.

Kaminsky isn’t throwing as bad as game day might appear. Bloop single and a perfectly placed dribble back to him.

Smooth play by Sosa to end the top of the 8th and preserve the lead.

Carlson hits a rocket up the middle for an RBI single after the Knizner triple! 2-0 good guys!

Nice job by Carlson to give the insurance run.

Cabrera with two nice Ks, but two slap singles the other way put him in some trouble.

Cabrera, K’ed the first two, gave up two singles then K’ed the last guy.

3k in 1IP, but two bombs hit that were foul and two singles.

Not a terrible line, but he didn’t look that sharp to me. Anyone else have a thought on that?

He finishes it off with another K. 2-0 Cards, final!

He has electric stuff. Very similar to Carlos Martinez. I was impressed with him today. That breaking pitch was devastating.

Quite the parade of lefties after Flaherty and Hudson today…

I thought Cabrera looked fine. He had a couple of first pitch misses but mostly stayed ahead, and his two singles were more the slap variety. The breaking ball of his has some pretty good dip. I dunno if he’ll end up a starter or not but he could be a weapon in the bullpen.

Jim Edmonds had some interesting comments on the cheating scandal today. News to me was the fact that all but one TV in the video room now have 5 second delays. I hope the one with real time is the one used for replay review because MLB cut down the request time from the manager from 30 seconds to 20 seconds. Cards looked pretty good today. Cecil got a slow start but the double play took him out of trouble (that was Cecil wasn’t it?) Lots of the rookies sure looked good. Looking for a solid team this year.

I missed the game today because I attended the Arkansas basketball win over Mizzou.

Glad to see the Cards won. Looking at the box score it appears it was a good day for O’Neill, Carp, and all of the pitchers.

I thought the pitching was solid for a first game. I also really like Gorman, hes pretty impressive. Carlson swung real well in his plate appearance as well. its the first game so nothing you can really take out of it. but im glad we are off and rolling.
