bccran, Mike O’Reilly…. not Bill. I guess I should not have tried typing in my choices at 5 AM when I had only been awake for a few minutes. Next round I will make sure I have had some caffeine first….
September 29, 2017 at 9:12 pm #34650bccranParticipantJust kidding you, 1776. I’ve done the same type of thing many times.
September 29, 2017 at 11:33 pm #34666Before my time CC, however, I recall that there was criticism when Lance came up that he didn’t have a good enough pitch selection; he walked too many. Expectations, regardless of his draft selection, didn’t seem to be too high when he was called up. Fans didn’t seem to be too enamored with him, in spite of the fact that all he did was win. I loved the guy right from the start and I hope they resign him, but I doubt that will happen because of the wealth of pitchers being rated on here.
So okay, I over-stated Matt Pearce’s worth with the Lynn comparison.
September 29, 2017 at 11:36 pm #34667How can Luke Voit be still considered a rookie? According to baseball rules; he loses rookie status when he has accumulated more then 45 days on the active roster, not including Sept. He way exceeded that total and was removed from MLB’s (Mayo’s) 30 top prospects list 2 months ago.
September 30, 2017 at 7:09 am #34674This is not a vote of best potential rookies. It is a vote for prospects. A guy is a prospect because he hasn’t had an opportunity to show what he can can not do yet. Sitting on the bench doesn’t give a player the opportunity to show what he can do.
September 30, 2017 at 8:10 am #34683bccranParticipantI mentioned Luke Voit only because Pads clarified that he still qualified for this voting.
September 30, 2017 at 8:25 am #34685I think I can help clarify. There are three qualifications for rookies – at-bats, innings pitched and days in the majors. The first two are easy to track. The third is not. For that reason, we’ve traditionally used the first two only in deciding eligibility for the prospect list voting.
September 30, 2017 at 10:06 am #34704bccranParticipantIsn’t 130 at bats the cutoff?
September 30, 2017 at 10:24 am #34708Yes, 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched.
As as aside, it took Sam Tuivailala parts of four seasons to get to 50. We left him in the prospect pool until he got there, anyway, though he had likely passed 45 days in MLB before September 1 long ago. He was up and down so many times I lost count. I think it is around 15.
September 30, 2017 at 10:34 am #34710David GreenwaldParticipant21 Oviedo
22 Machado

Sosa – 30
Oviedo – 21
Jones – 21
Seijas – 19
Seferina – 18
Edman – 17
Tewes – 10? (Not sure about this as I didn’t understand Mudville’s 5th vote)September 30, 2017 at 10:52 pm #34765My bad, I didn’t realize we were playing by a different set of rules. I need to pay more attention. My apologies to all.
October 1, 2017 at 7:27 am #34776bccranParticipantI voted for Voit at #21, BH.
October 1, 2017 at 7:58 am #34778So my earlier post was just for the guys with the most votes this round. Based on my math here is the entire voting results from this round:

October 1, 2017 at 10:05 am #34782PadsFSParticipantSorry guys! I’m not much use on Saturdays during football season. I’ll close the vote:
#21 – Jonatan Machado
#22 – Edmundo Sosa
#23 – Connor Jones
#24 – Johan Oviedo
#25 – Alvaro SeijasI used the last round of five to break the tie, since my usual tiebreaker, who had a higher total vote count, didn’t work for Jones/Oviedo as they both got 6 votes.
Voting is now open for #26-30.
October 1, 2017 at 10:18 am #34784#26 – Mike O’Reilly
#27 – Kramer Robertson
#28 – Darren Seferina
#29 – Tommy Edman
#30 – Sam TewesOctober 1, 2017 at 10:30 am #3478526 Voit (actually shoild have voted for him earlier but forgot about him).
27 Poncedeleon
28 O’Reilly
29 Tewes
30 SeferinaOctober 1, 2017 at 10:34 am #34786PadsFSParticipantMy votes are:
#26 – Luke Voit
#27 – Darren Seferina
#28 – Tommy Edman
#29 – Wadye Ynfante – young for JC and hit for power – .865 OPS, 133 wRC+
#30 – Chase Pinder – Crushed in for JC too, but is older than Ynfante. He is also smaller. .880 OPS, 146 wRC+I really liked Evan Mendoza here too. He is a good defensive 3B that put up a 191 wRC+ at SC, .896 OPS.
Hurst should come up soon too.
October 1, 2017 at 11:20 am #34794David GreenwaldParticipant26. Bryce Denton – still like his bat, still young but power needs to come around
27. Seferina
28. Edman
29. Ian Oxnevad – leaped a level this year, pitched better late, still only 20
30. YnfanteOctober 1, 2017 at 11:42 am #34796David, I was surprised you didn’t vote for Tewes this round.
October 1, 2017 at 1:22 pm #3480126. Seferina
27. Pearce
28. Poncedeleon
29. Edman
30. Sherriff – I’m at the point in my list where I bounce between young long shots and guys that are right there but ceiling is on the lower end. I hate missing guys that end up contributing at the major league level and Sherriff seems he’ll be able to continue in the majors in some capacity next year.October 1, 2017 at 5:38 pm #3483126. Luke Voit
27. Sam Tewes Potential is there.
28. Bruce Denton Great attitude.
29. Kramer Robertson Here’s hoping for the best.
30. Mike O’Reilly He doesn’t deserve to be ranked any lower, IMO.October 1, 2017 at 6:18 pm #34838David GreenwaldParticipantBlackHills: I forgot!
Amend my vote:
Tewes at 26
Slide my others down
Drop YfanteOctober 1, 2017 at 7:25 pm #3484526. Seferina
27. Poncedeleon
28. O’Reilly
29. Denton
30. Edman -
