Participant17NyquisT – I’m not sure I see what you like in Guillory.
I definitely don’t get the votes for Nogowski, who has a sub-.400 slugging percentage (2 HRs)….as a 24-year old….in Springfield….playing 1B…after being released from his previous organization.
I’m all for Castano, Summerville, and Santos though.

ParticipantSomeone is having a bad day!
I thought that we were going to drop the negative and personal comments on this thread.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I posted why I was voting for Guillory
Guillory had a superior season at Johnson City:
2.80 ERA
45.0 IP
35 K
7 BB that’s a 6.4 IP/BB
1.07 WHIP
.241 AVR
Aren’t you reading along?Let me add to that he started a game for Palm Beach on Sept… pitched 7.0inn and received a GS of 59. That’s not too bad for a rookie.
He is a pretty good contact guy that maybe the organization feels could become a big bat with development. He was chosen as AFL taxi player candidate, which says to me that the organization must see something there. He’s played outfield so far at AFL..so maybe they see some potential as an outfielder.)
If this has anything to do with the comment I made about not considering some prospects that have already been chosen…. I didn’t mention who the players were or who voted for them. I have some respect for the others here and except their prerogative to chose who they want.
Not a bad day at all. I legitimately was asking. I hardly even knew who Guillory was. I must’ve missed both of those previous posts. Thanks for sharing again. I’m not trying to question your picks. I haven’t even voted yet. This is the point where I don’t know some of the players being voted on.
October 24, 2017 at 3:27 pm #36790I am just trying to figure out what rational you used to elevate Guillroy over Seeburger, Patterson, and Walsh – other than innings pitched (which could be related to their college workload). I haven’t figured out a seperator yet.
ParticipantCC….from the CN 2017 awards list.
“As a side point, once the Johnson City season concluded, the Cardinals selected one member of the rotation to be promoted to Palm Beach to make a September start for the high-A Cardinals. It was Guillory.
>>>>>>Congratulations to The Cardinal Nation Johnson City Cardinals Starting Pitcher of the Year for 2017, Evan Guillory.”<<<<<<<<
My thoughts:
Jumping on the opportunity of starting, Guillory performances in July/Aug. EG probably earned himself a spot in the 2018 Peoria rotation.October 25, 2017 at 7:23 am #36822Nyquis, ok, just curious. Thanks
ParticipantGood to know on Guillory. I didn’t realize he was so dominant in his six starts.
I also saw the GCL article on Winston Nicacio. He really turned it on in the second half of the year which I failed to account for.
ParticipantI think we are only waiting on desmetlax to close it out since brianpnoonan, dave greenwald, and mudville have all sadly bowed out.
October 27, 2017 at 8:28 am #36961The Cardinals website has their own Top 30 listing. They have Edmundo Sosa at 12. But they don’t even have Adolis Garcia ranked. IMO, their creditability takes a hit for such an obvious miss.
