All these lefties seeing Hjerpe for the first time are mystified. I hope we see him go a second time through and see what happens. If he comes back for the 7th, he will be seeing guys a second time.

September 6, 2026 at 3:52 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #144 thread –Sunday, Sept. 6 at Colorado Rockies #318222For some reason I was thinking Hjerpe was a whippy arm guy throwing whiffle balls that could go anywhere. Just the opposite. Looks to have total command over everything.
September 6, 2026 at 3:40 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #144 thread –Sunday, Sept. 6 at Colorado Rockies #318217Wow, the Rox CF does an Olé on a short hopper and opens the flood gates for us.
September 6, 2026 at 3:25 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #144 thread –Sunday, Sept. 6 at Colorado Rockies #318215Nice inning. Everything around the edges, nothing down broadway. I didn’t expect that.

September 6, 2026 at 3:08 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #144 thread –Sunday, Sept. 6 at Colorado Rockies #318212Leahy out in third after 55 pitches. Should have come out at 45.

September 6, 2026 at 2:42 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #144 thread –Sunday, Sept. 6 at Colorado Rockies #318208Church with the RBI and takes second on lazy fielding. Nice.
September 6, 2026 at 2:40 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #144 thread –Sunday, Sept. 6 at Colorado Rockies #318206Nice PA by Saggese. Love a bat control guy.
September 6, 2026 at 2:35 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #144 thread –Sunday, Sept. 6 at Colorado Rockies #318203I also noticed on the E4 throw that ended up in the dugout, Bernal was about halfway down there, at a jog. Nobody not named Yadi would be in position to save that, but the lack of effort to be in position is noted. By me at least. Noticed it yesterday which is why I was paying attention to where he was. Obviously, nothing was said to him, which means there is no expectation.
September 6, 2026 at 2:32 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #144 thread –Sunday, Sept. 6 at Colorado Rockies #318202Well, an E4 and a difficult but catchable ball not caught in LF and its 1-0 bad guys. Now 2-0 after the first. Leahy at 26 pitches. Not sure what pitch count he’s on.

Iván Herrera (R) DH
Alec Burleson (L) 1B
Jordan Walker (R) RF
Leo Bernal (S) C
Joshua Báez (R) LF
Nolan Gorman (L) 3B
Thomas Saggese (R) SS
Nathan Church (L) CFIt sucks that JJ got bunged up and then had to go on the shelf. I feel sorry for him. Well, as sorry as I’m going to feel for someone who is going to make gobs of money no matter what. The RoY race added a layer of interest, and you never know.
September 6, 2026 at 10:28 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #144 thread –Sunday, Sept. 6 at Colorado Rockies #318194Bad defense and poor fundamentals is more upsetting to me than anything else.
I should have turned if off too KCB. I was appalled the whole time and seriously it was bad for my health.
Just a heads up, we are going to get tired of seeing Bernal behind the plate.
Cijntje went 6 shutout innings. 4 H, 1 BB, 90 pitches. It looks like he’s been going 80-90 all year. Sometimes hittable, sometimes not. He could be in the mix next spring.

September 6, 2026 at 7:35 am in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #144 thread –Sunday, Sept. 6 at Colorado Rockies #318186I guess last night’s loss was so upsetting to watch nobody wanted to post a comment for 10 hours.
Even if you are a team that isn’t going to spend a ton and hire up all the stars, you can still be a team that does everything right.
September 5, 2026 at 9:47 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #143 thread –Saturday, Sept. 5 at Colorado Rockies #318175Even with two teams not going anywhere, I am sure the speed and intensity of a ML game is a lot for a new guy to take on. Its an adjustment process that is painful to watch.
September 5, 2026 at 9:37 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #143 thread –Saturday, Sept. 5 at Colorado Rockies #318173There is no way for an offense to outscore the kind of play in the field we are seeing.
September 5, 2026 at 9:34 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #143 thread –Saturday, Sept. 5 at Colorado Rockies #318171Jeesh, now Baez breaks the wrong way and its another run. Can anyone play this game?
September 5, 2026 at 9:32 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #143 thread –Saturday, Sept. 5 at Colorado Rockies #318170Walk, HBP, missed cutoff man. Ugh. We are having a hard time outscoring the rest of it tonight.
September 5, 2026 at 8:41 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #143 thread –Saturday, Sept. 5 at Colorado Rockies #318162This 5th has been painful. Libby failed to back up home which almost got Bernal hurt when he had to try to run after the overthrow. Bernal with two weak efforts that let a couple get away. Then a throw goes into CF for whatever reason. All of it contributed to the Rox inning. I really hate shabby play.
September 5, 2026 at 6:16 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #143 thread –Saturday, Sept. 5 at Colorado Rockies #318155Looking at the lineup, if 2 through 7 were all hitting like we dream about, it would be biblical.

CiF did point out that the French invented what amounts to cat food for people, so I am reevaluating my gastronomical world view. I will never look at a jar of Grey Poupon the same.
