Jordan Walker at #6. Word was he was neck and neck with Gorman in the power department this summer at Springfield. It’s hard to say where he ends up, as he’s still very young. But it’s good to have a talent like him in the system. Would be nice to have the corners of the infield set for after Goldy leaves with Stormin Gorman and Walker, Georgia Ranger.
Knizner is a career backup catcher. I’d love to be wrong, but the Cards showed this year what they think of him. He’s around 15th at best.
Knizner @ 6. He’s always been able to hit. There’s a place for a catcher that can hit and play respectable defense.

I’m all over Walker with this pick at #6. Walker could truly be that proverbial diamond in the rough. I have Knizner way down at #17. So what’s that tell you? I’m sorry, but those who have already cast their votes for #6 cannot change it this late in the ballgame.
Sticking with Walker for #6. Knizner is what he is at this point. I like him, but Walker’s upside is enough to put him over the top for me. Hopefully he gets to play this year and we all look silly putting him this low in the rankings.

I’ll go Knizner at #6. The Cardinals haven’t given him much of a chance on the big league roster yet.
I can’t help but think of Austin Wilson when Jordan Walker’s name is mentioned. They’re the same kind of player with similar backgrounds. The Cardinals drafted Wilson out of high school in the 12th Round in 2010 but he didn’t sign. The Mariners drafted Wilson out of Stanford University in the 2nd Round of the 20213 draft. Seattle signed him and he stayed with the Mariners until they released him after the 2016 season. The Cardinals picked him up in 2017, but released him after 37 games at Palm Beach.
I remember Wilson. His parents were legacy grads at Stanford.
I like Oviedo here too. He looks like a legitimate back end big league starter right now and he’ll only be 23 next year.
With an hour and a quarter to go, it’s tied 5-5 between Knizner and Walker.
Will we need to call on Brian to be the tie breaker?Okay. This poster will have to break the tie. Andrew Knizner is a fine ball player. He’s been a decent defensive catching prospect, and has topped .800 OPS at every level coming through the system. He’s done very well as a 7th round draft pick out of NC State. But through no fault of his own, he’s been blocked by Yadi and will turn 26 years old by the time ST comes around in February (with only 26 major league games under his belt). Jordan Walker, drafted #21 in the 1st round this year, is already a powerful 6’ 5” and 220 lbs. as an 18 year old. Although there are no guarantees, his ceiling is through the roof. He could be a beast someday at the major league level. I’m going to cast the final vote for Jordan. He becomes our #6
prospect.The voting is now open for #7.
#7-Johan Oviedo. His debut reminded me a little bit of Jack Flaherty’s back in 2017. Jack was more polished, of course, but both generally held their own save for a few miscues that made their stats look a bit worse. Johan just needs some more seasoning and I think he ends up a #3 type starter. I really like the way he battles out there. He clearly was pushed too fast due to the roster situation but he never gave up.
Knizner @ 7. He’ll get a chance to be a starter for somebody, possibly even this year for the Cardinals, if Yadi goes to another team to finish his career. (It would be fun if we lent Yadi to the Yankees for these last two years and he helped take them to the World Series. That would be the one, and only, time I would ever root for the Yankees to win, assuming, of course, that the Cardinals weren’t in the WS with them.)

Sorry, this 15 hour time difference from Japan to CST is making it hard to vote on time. Quick process question. Are we going to start voting 3-5 at a time after the top 10 like the past couple of years or are we going to hang with the singles for a while? My vote to follow.
#7 Johan Oviedo. Could go Knizner here, but frankly I’m not sure his ceiling is anything more than a league average hitter with good to below average defense behind the plate. Oviedo has already proven he can handle a back of the rotation spot and still has some projection left as he continues to refine his consistency with his motion. Overall, I could see another tick or two on his FB over the next year or so, but even without it he sits mostly 94-98 and can maintain it throughout a start. His slider is already tight and if he improves his command it’s a plus pitch that is a true out pitch that compliments his FB. He has a developing CU and an average CB that seems like a show me pitch that he doesn’t use much. I believe if he continues to develop he’s a #2-#3 type that can really complement a true ace. As of now I think he’s already proven he can hold down a rotation spot which pushes him over Knizner in my opinion.
