Carpenter can’t be the DH vs lefties, and would have to revert to at least 3 years ago to do at all. Any of the young outfielders who don’t start could do just as well and need the PAs.

Agree, and a Carpenter renaissance was the topic, thanks for adding

I think the Cardinals would be crazy to allow carpenter to reach those numbers, I don’t see it happening. If we have the dh, he might get some but personally I think he would be better in spot dhing, spot playing, and especially as a good pinch hitting bat late in game. He still has a good eye at the plate.

I liked Gil more than I liked any of the players who were rumored to be going. Thankfully the infield is pretty set for a while.

I’m not sure whether the Nightengale curse is still in effect, or whether it was vanquished by the first incorrect tweet tonight. Pls advise.

That’s a better group of players than was rumored, for sure. Montero will hit very well for them in Colorado. Of course, he became expendable with Arenado on the team and with Gorman pulling even with him (and higher priority) and Walker and Nunez in the wings. Gomber fills a rotation spot, I think Gil becomes a big league SS, and Locey should also make the big leagues as a reliever.

Basically the Rockies got a lot more upside than the rumored group. Keeping Torres is probably a good idea for us although he may run out of time to make an impact.

Its not official until TCN Roster Matrix is updated.

    Losing Tony Locey, hurts.

But it’s worth it for Arenado.

Montero is TCN #7, Locey #19 and Gil #22. Sommers is a guy I had to look up to remember anything about him. Looks like the FaGalde fan club dodged another bullet. Lol

For some of those guys, this is their 15 minutes of fame.

The Cards hardly touched their pitching depth to make this trade. Could set them up to use it for another trade during the season if needed.

That reads like there will be a % paid each season that he is a Cardinal.

Getting Montero is good for the Rockies. Not getting Torres and Rondon offsets that so I would call it a wash. Still not worth $50M. Cards win this trade in a landslide.

We can now put the 50mil up front rumors to rest. Never seemed realistic.
