Well, i made myself clear before it was done, but i want to see what the final cost is before i say “yay”… overall if it is just alcantara and some lesser guys i think we did pretty well.

Also, if we deal Grichuk, Piscotty, and Bader, I would like to see Jordan Schafer as the 5th outfielder (with Martinez being the 4th) given his ability to play CF, his LH-hitting, and, of course, his ability to pitch in relief.

I don’t want anything to do with Dealing Bader unless we are getting elite talent in return and not as part of the Marlins deal either

I would guess Bader is the 4th OF and Jose Martinez is backup 1B

I’m guessing it is adolis garcia… similar to bader ceiling wise but has that arm and you never know…

He is also Cuban, which might help in Miami

I hope it is not Garcia. I think Garcia can be better than Bader.

is he going to be better than ozuna?

    nope?

we’ll be fine. You can’t keep everybody. At some point you have to pay to play or you stay mired in mediocrity.

Hate to lose Mags but we had to give up someone.

Might be able to sign Jarrod Dyson on a relatively cheap deal to be 4th OF.

So Sierra, a major leaguer and a higher rated prospect than Alcantara by some outlets, but at the very least, right there with him. I don’t know how that jives with “of lesser ilk” but whatever.

interesting… lower ceiling good defense… but no place to play really.

… if that’s the case anyway.

it’s one way to clear out the outfield jam to be honest… doesn’t bother me any more than garcia would.

sierra might not learn how to hit… we shall see i guess.

Dyson would probably go somewhere that he is more likely to play a lot.

Maybe so but considering Pham and Fowler’s injury history I think he would get his share of playing time.

We still have a ton of OF’s, I don’t see us signing anyone to be 4th OF

I am fine with it being Sierra. We have a lot of OF prospects who can play good defense with more offensive upside. If the Cardinals trade Piscotty to the A’s for Jorge Mateo, they have acquired a good replacement for Sierra who can play the INF.

bader is 4th of in my eyes right now… no reason to go outside when he need to be in the bigs. maybe arozarena or o’neill in an emergency.

we have a ridiculous amount of players at those positions.

Here are the others in the trade according to Clark Spencer, Miami beat writer.

In addition to Alcantara and Sierra, other two prospects Marlins receiving in Ozuna deal are rhp Zac Gallen and lhp Daniel Castano

I don’t think there is anyway the Cardinals get Mateo for Piscotty:

“A’s will not discuss any of their top young players”

Not by himself. They would probably have to include another chip in the deal.

Heads up that Piscotty is being discussed on the “OF Who Stays and Goes” thread. Thanks.
