…why is that shocking? Lots of idiots in this world. Like people who believe Dexter fowler is extremely good.

Averaging 2.2 war for his career?

Yeah.. theres roughly 120 better players in baseball every year.

…and that was if he stuck in center.

    In left? LOL

Seriously. His stats scream average and overpaid. And that’s in center.

That is even ignoring our multitude of centerfield options past year one of the contract which were blatantly obvious if you looked. At all.

Listening to mouthpieces who can’t analyze anything is a very easy way to ruin your team. It is hard enough building a winner with injuries etc.

Nice to know there are posters who think so highly of themselves that they feel that can brand many others are idiots.

Dexter can be an asset as he was for the Cubs if he stays healthy. I prefer to look at his positive attributes and hope for the best for him in 2018.

    …. And for future reference.

You can’t pull hypocrisy on this board. People will call you on it.

On one side you blow off everyone who brings up national publications stating matheny is a horrible manager. On the other you try and quote them in saying fowler is good.

Not going to fly. You have no credibility.

… Also If you’re going to bait me repeatedly im going to tell you what I really think. And I have told brian for fifteen years (I was on this board BEFORE he was on scout) that if he wanted me to tone it down all he has to do was ask.

Your passive aggressive bull that you try and pull to get me gagged might work… But he will crack down on you too don’t kid yourself. Ive been here when he has banned people with closed minds and big mouths.

I prefer not to come down on anyone and banning is always the very last resort.

All I am asking again is that we keep the discussion on baseball, not each other.

Happy to, Brian. Would just ask that condescending labels like idiot be used sparingly. And posters not call other posted hypocrites, as I was just called. It would keep things a bit more respectful and genteel.

Too busy to redo you list but plenty of time to keep posting in other threads? We’ve been waiting several days now. Tick tock tick tock.

It is the definition of hypocritical to ignore national publications when yhey don’t say what you want to hear, then try to quote them when they do and use them as a credible source.

If you don’t want the label stop acting like it.

What you want is to be treated with kid gloves and for people to agree with you when you dont use anything substantial to back up your opinions.

If i was the only one saying stuff like this about you I wouldnt be half as adamant. You have sat there and baited me specifically repeatedly.

I called you juvenile too. What I just described above is the definition of juvenile… And you want to sit there and complain that someone calls you on it.

Complain all you want I will keep calling you on it.

Opinions get slapped in the face with nothing to back them up. Carioca specifically hits me with reality all the time. Pads as well. They’re good guys. Brian does too to be fair 🙂 and im obviously still here.

Dad always said… “there’s your opinion, their opinion and the truth. If you’re lucky all three will coincide.” Like it or not… You will make mistakes. Accepting that goes over better than whining that someone doesnt like you.

    Moderator –

I’ve provided a number of facts in an attempt to support my points and bring value. At least in my own small way.

Please advise this fellow to desist with the insults. He won’t stop. He doesn’t have time to vote because he’s buying a house, but he has to time to rip me and call me names? That doesn’t add up.

Time to move on and talk baseball
like you requested. Hope he has time to honor that, at least.

Calling each other idiots or juveniles is out of bounds. Calling a writer or some publication an idiot is spouting off, but causing no one personal harm, especially not to posters here.

Identities of victims vs. instigators are often in the eye of the beholder. Some are most skilled at baiting others, then crying foul.

Bottom line, I would like all this noise to stop, please. Getting in the last word is not helpful. And just because my post happens to fall right after yours (whoever that happens to be) does not mean I am singling you out.

On any board, disagreement is expected, but here, it needs to remain civil. A number of people keep pushing the boundaries. This is what needs to stop.

If you want to talk Cardinals baseball, great, you are welcome here. People want to come here to read about that, not witness personal squabbles.

Though it may not solve the problem long term, I would recommend this topic be closed.

CC, that is something I have not had to do on this board to date. If fact, I will have to investigate how to do it, in case it gets to that.

In the meantime, to your request, what I will do is that any further comments on this thread that do not have to do with Josh Donaldson will be deleted, without exception.

Back to Josh Donaldson or whatever this thread was about pre-hijack.

I am assuming the Jays really don’t want to trade Donaldson. They seem to be one of those teams that have a hard time facing reality because they feel like they are a contender every year. If that is the case then we would have to do an extreme over pay to get him.

Is it really worth it to send all of the players the Jays will want, plus pay his arbitration salary of at least $20M if not more, for just ONE YEAR? Maybe he will sign a long term deal with us eventually but what if he doesn’t?

Mo and Girsch need to think long and hard about this one.

i still dont get the deal with wanting Donaldson NOW…he costs a lot of money and will cost too much in prospects to pry him away as they have built up the story that he wants to stay there and finish his career and that they dont want to trade him etc etc…whether it is true or not it makes the cost go up…

i do think they want to move him though but unless they get the Quintana, Eaton sale like deal (which they shouldn’t be asking for as each of those other deals all went up because of control) i think they hold him and use him…and hope he stays healthy enough so they can deal him for mega value at the deadline

for as expensive as Stanton is…at least the traded assets and salary would be mitigated by at least 3yrs of on field play…and 3 yrs allows more prospects to take the others places…and the Cardinals do a good job of cultivating good prospects…mostly on the pitching side but that isnt a bad thing

I’d bet we coudl get Tulowitzki from them if we wanted for pennies on the dollar…he’s been injured but healthy could still have a couple more good years….not at his full price of course

if it was Tulo at 5mil instead of 20 would you be interested?

if he was healthy he would be an interesting option for 3b

im not really interested, just at what point does he become an option worth considering… 2017 was an injury riddled year for him…but 2016 wasnt the worst….i dunno…

anyways… DOnaldson…i have a bad feeling we will overpay to get him…just a hunch, i hope i am wrong

From what I have read Donaldson prefers to finish his career in Toronto. Vlad Guerrero JR is Toronto’s top 3B prospect and he is a year or two away from ready.Toronto has a boatload of aging DH/OF/1B types that will be hitting Free agency over the next year or two (Jose Bautista OF this year,Kendry Morales DH/1B ,Justin Smoak 2018* option,Steve Pearce 2018).
So even if Guerrero comes up in 2018 Donaldson would still fill a big role in Toronto.Toronto has stated they want to get more athletic and speed to the team so that sounds like some of the older DH/1B types will not be returning. I just don’t see Toronto dealing Donaldson unless they get a yonger cheaper player/players in return with solid bat.I think it would take Gyorko to hold 3B until Guerrero is ready and a young OF (Grichuk or Bader and a mid-level prospect also.Toronto doesn’t have to deal Donaldson so they can set a high price tag.I think Gyorko/Grichuk/or Bader and mid-level prospect is too high a price for a possible One year rental. If this Cardinal team was only one player away from being a serious World Series contender I could understand paying that kind of price.Since this team is not then I think you have to look longer term when dealing.Sorry about the long-winded post.

Why would we want Donaldson for 1 year and for then to have him leave for free agency…that makes no sense to me…

It only makes sense if you’re pretty sure you can extend him.
And how sure can you be after the Heyward fiasco?

I would do Gyrko, Grichuk/Bader/or Piscotty, and mid level prospect for a 1 year rental of Donaldson in a heartbeat. If Donaldson walks, it just frees up money for someone else.

The Cards have had an interest in Tulowitzki for many years. IMO, that would mean Carpenter would have to be traded to free-up 1B for our next true power source. Tulo is a great dugout presence. For those who are looking for that veteran player ala Beltran and Berkman, with something left in the tank, Tulo would still be a great fit.

I think the Jays have eyes for Carson Kelly.

This team doesn’t need for a veteran player with something left in the tank. You need those when you had Pujols and/or Holliday. No to Tulo.
