    Paid - Annual

Not sure who will be more depressed, GameCrd seeing Tommy Edman signing with the Dodgers, or Pugs seeing former Cardinal Andrew Kittredge sign with the former St. Louis Browns.

My guess is that GameCrd is scarred for life because of the Tommy Edman signing.

Can anybody imagine giving Andrew Kittredge $10M to play baseball as a middle reliever? I can’t.

He’s not as scarred for life as are the Mets and Yankees after little Eddie put the first rate beat down on those two teams in the NLCS and WS…Ouch!

I just saw that Bob Uecker passed away. Another sad day.

I knew Albert divorced, but didn’t know he remarried.

The story says she posts about her daily life with Albert for her 285,000 followers. I guess none of them are sports media people or it would be widely known.

I remember when he remarried. It was kept pretty quiet.

Seems out of whack. The only thing I can think of is Kittridge lead the NL in ‘holds’ by a wide margin.
This might go back to the other discussion about how many innings you expect out of your starting pitchers. If the Baltimore answer is ‘below average’, then a good bridge to their closers is critical to their success.

Hopefully Carlson can resurrect his career a bit in Baltimore. It was surprising that he didn’t amount to much after the start he had to his career in St Louis.

He’ll be their guy they plug in vs. Lefties. That is all he is. Even his OPS was under .800 vs. Them. Guy should stop switch hitting. He’s not good at it.

At CBS sports there is an article on current players that are sure things, or likely HOF material….
    https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/baseball-hall-of-fame-mike-trout-mookie-betts-clayton-kershaw-more-active-players-on-track-for-cooperstown/

Paul Goldschmidt – I think he’s probably in. At present, Goldschmidt is almost exactly at the average Hall of Fame first baseman in JAWS and WAR. He has an MVP and is a career .289/.381/.510 (139 OPS+) hitter. He’s over 2,000 hits, but there might be concern with 446 doubles, 362 home runs, 1,187 RBI and 1,204 runs from a first baseman.

Nolan Arenado – Ahead of Machado in JAWS (Arenado sits 18th), but a touch older. Arenado heads to his age-34 season. He has a 120 career OPS+ with 1,826 hits, 387 doubles, 341 home runs, 1,132 RBI, 944 runs and an unfair Coors Field stigma to fight. The defensive wizardry should help mitigate some of that, but this isn’t a done deal.

Flaherty’s deal makes me feel better about what we’re paying Mikolas this year. Paying Flaherty that kind of money makes it clear that the inmates are still running the asylum.

The Detroit Tigers today signed right-handed pitcher John Brebbia to a one-year contract for the 2025 season, with a club option for the 2026 campaign. Brebbia will earn a base salary of $2,250,000 during the 2025 season, and $4,000,000 if his club option is exercised for 2026. There is a $500,000 buy-out if the club option is not exercised.

Brebbia got a good deal for a guy who was cut loose by the White Sox and had a pretty dismal 2024. He also got a 1.5 million buyout on his 2025 as well.

Hope he can get back on track. I thought we should’ve kept him and rehab. Not that it would matter any longer.
