Looks like phillies signed dylan catlson to a minor league deal. How the mighty have fallen. Catlson is the evidence for why not to get too carried away about the hype on high draft picks. I dont believe weatherholt will suffer his fate but time always tells.

Poor JJ is going to get brought up in every post about early draft picks who did not reach their potential – just on the off chance it happens later on.
It is a fact is it not or did i lie. Is suddenly jn the first n only player annoited hall of famer after 40 or so games.
No one except you said anything about Hall of Fame. That is NOT FACT. You used the word “hype”. So far, JJ is producing. That isn’t hype. That is results.
I didnt say he wasnt producing but carlson produced at times early too. I think jj is going to be fine but its not set in stone.
Matt Bowman was given his release by Twins, likely due to 40-man issues. Bowman posted a 1.69 ERA with 25 strikeouts and 6 walks in 21.1 innings while inducing groundballs at a 54.5% rate with AAA St. Paul. MLB deal elsewhere probably awaits.

Brebbia pitched at the game I worked on Sunday and looked real good. Velocity was low 90s, but what was impressive was his command. He was throwing his fastball and slider consistently for strikes. Really looked sharp.

And he is collecting $20,546 per day for the entire 365 day year. The Rays are paying him $7.5M for 2026 and another $7.5M for 2027, this, after the Cardinals gave him $12M/year for three years.
Somewhere there are deep metrics saying Matz is good. The wonks are on it. Its not their money. Owners and PBOs don’t have cigar chompers to talk common sense anymore.
The Rays have an excellent reputation for getting a lot from little. This one was clearly off the rails, though.
All teams, including the Cardinals, routinely use that old Indian trick. When they become entirely embarrassed and ashamed that they got hoodwinked, they tell us the guy’s got a sore spot somewhere. The Redbirds used the precise same routine with Matz numerous times. One thing you can be entirely certain of is that they’ll never concede to how foolish they’ve behaved. They learn all of these fundamentals as soon as they begin kindergarten at baseball bosses school.
