If he can pull .200 or better it would be a bench upgrade.

May 6, 2026 at 8:02 pm #306780I missed the news that Reggie Sanders was inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame recently.

May 13, 2026 at 11:21 am #307266Albert Pujols reveals he rejected a $315 million offer and agreed to sign for a 10-year, $254 million with the Los Angeles Angels on 2011.
Although Pujols did not reveal which team made him the offer, he said that the city the team belongs to is an hour and forty minutes from…

ParticipantLooks like phillies signed dylan catlson to a minor league deal. How the mighty have fallen. Catlson is the evidence for why not to get too carried away about the hype on high draft picks. I dont believe weatherholt will suffer his fate but time always tells.
May 13, 2026 at 8:39 pm #307320Jason Heyward is joining the Dodgers front office as a special assistant. @maddie_m_lee was on it.
Not much of a surprise given how beloved he was in his time in Los Angeles. Dave Roberts said he will be going around to different affiliates to observe. He’s here today.

Poor JJ is going to get brought up in every post about early draft picks who did not reach their potential – just on the off chance it happens later on.

ParticipantIt is a fact is it not or did i lie. Is suddenly jn the first n only player annoited hall of famer after 40 or so games.
May 13, 2026 at 9:00 pm #307332No one except you said anything about Hall of Fame. That is NOT FACT. You used the word “hype”. So far, JJ is producing. That isn’t hype. That is results.

ParticipantI didnt say he wasnt producing but carlson produced at times early too. I think jj is going to be fine but its not set in stone.
May 20, 2026 at 11:26 am #307810Matt Bowman was given his release by Twins, likely due to 40-man issues. Bowman posted a 1.69 ERA with 25 strikeouts and 6 walks in 21.1 innings while inducing groundballs at a 54.5% rate with AAA St. Paul. MLB deal elsewhere probably awaits.

May 20, 2026 at 11:30 am #307811John Brebbia, too.
#MNTwins granted releases to Matt Bowman and John Brebbia. Each triggered their opt-outs.

May 20, 2026 at 11:41 am #307813I missed the announcement last month that Albert Pujols is the new POBO of Las Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Winter League. I thought he wanted to manage, not be in the front office…
Translation: The Eastern Stars announced, through a press release, that they wish to have Robinson Canó on their roster for the next season. According to Albert Pujols, the team’s president of Baseball Operations, the organization has already presented him with a salary offer that they consider competitive.

June 23, 2026 at 8:30 am #310738The Rockies announced today the following transactions:
– Selected the contract of RHP John Brebbia (#60) from Triple-A Albuquerque.
– Placed RHP Blas Castaño on the 15-day IL, retroactive to June 18 (right pectoral strain).
– Designated LHP Sammy Peralta for assignment.— Rockies Club Information (@RockiesClubInfo) June 21, 2026
June 23, 2026 at 3:19 pm #310767Brebbia pitched at the game I worked on Sunday and looked real good. Velocity was low 90s, but what was impressive was his command. He was throwing his fastball and slider consistently for strikes. Really looked sharp.
June 23, 2026 at 5:33 pm #310785The Red Sox have signed catcher Andrew Knizner to a minor league deal, per @ChrisCotillo.
Starter the year with the Rockies Triple-A squad. Slashed .279/.371/.590/.962 with 10 HR in 33 games. Spent 2025 with the Giants and posted a 73 OPS+ with rough defensive metrics. pic.twitter.com/TQbJd6A59F

June 26, 2026 at 9:57 am #311073ERA over 6 as a starter and over 11 as a reliever. Now hurt Sound familiar?
The Tampa Bay Rays have placed LHP Steven Matz (left ankle sprain) on the 15-day IL (retro June 24) and recalled RHP Michael Grove from Triple-A Durham.
— Rays Communications (@RaysPR) June 25, 2026
June 26, 2026 at 10:39 am #311076Yes it sounds very familiar.
June 26, 2026 at 2:53 pm #311094And he is collecting $20,546 per day for the entire 365 day year. The Rays are paying him $7.5M for 2026 and another $7.5M for 2027, this, after the Cardinals gave him $12M/year for three years.
June 26, 2026 at 3:16 pm #311096Somewhere there are deep metrics saying Matz is good. The wonks are on it. Its not their money. Owners and PBOs don’t have cigar chompers to talk common sense anymore.
June 26, 2026 at 4:44 pm #311115The Rays have an excellent reputation for getting a lot from little. This one was clearly off the rails, though.
June 26, 2026 at 5:38 pm #311120All teams, including the Cardinals, routinely use that old Indian trick. When they become entirely embarrassed and ashamed that they got hoodwinked, they tell us the guy’s got a sore spot somewhere. The Redbirds used the precise same routine with Matz numerous times. One thing you can be entirely certain of is that they’ll never concede to how foolish they’ve behaved. They learn all of these fundamentals as soon as they begin kindergarten at baseball bosses school.
