I’m using young Albert. Lol. Came down to Bill White or Terry Pendleton.

I thought Pujols had already been drafted.

Kscardfan was asking if players you’ve already drafted can be moved to another position to make room for a guy you want to draft now. Since he drafted Albert, that’s fine. He wouldn’t be allowed to pick him for some other position if someone else had taken him, though.

    JOY!
I will take the most under rated all star in Cardinal history. A switch-hitting outfielder with speed and a cannon arm. His War is basically Lou Brock and Colby Rasmus combined.
His picture is on the cover of the brochure for the Hall of Very Good.

flood21 that Betran pick was awesome. My dream was to get Reggie Smith and Beltran with my next two picks, but Reggie was my guy.

Beltran was gonna be my next pick after Vance, so I guess flood spared you having Beltran picked just before you. Lol

His War total is far above anyone else available, so I figured as much. I was just hoping everyone forgot about Reggie.
Trading him to the Dodgers was one of the biggest mistakes ever.
We had Simmons, and we traded Smith for a back up catcher known for base stealing.

Technically, Albert played every position except, cf, catcher, and pitcher.
On the other hand, his .938 fielding pct. at 3B will force Keith to perform his voodoo magic quite often.

I worried about you taking him. Anyone who loved Ted was exposed to Reggie’s greatness.
I loved to imitate his stances from each side in a batting cage I made in our unfinished basement. My parents were saints considering I hit for hours and the noise I made.

Good call on “the other” Reggie. Never understood the deal we made in sending him to LA, but then most deals management made from 1968 to 1978 made little sense.

Seems like Reggie wanted out though – at least that is how I remember it. I think we were sort of forced to trade him and thus did not get equal value in return.

He did have great batting stances from both sides. I was still playing in city leagues in my home town back then and sort of adopted Reggie’s lefty stance. But it was a little too “all or nothing” for me and I had to tone it down to more of a Berni Carbo style.

With the bat cocked way up and back, you had to swing hard. I used to remind myself, “stick your butt out when you’re Reggie.”

On the morning of the trade with Boston,my dad told me we had just traded for Reggie Jackson. I felt like a fool and was disappointed to find the guys at school were right. I soon realized what we got was my new favorite player. Kenny Reitz’s days were numbered with me and the team.

I loved the deal we made to get Reggie. When I heard about I thought, “we finally made a good deal.” But then we traded him only a couple of seasons later. I was living in LA in ‘76 when we dealt him there and the rumors were flying a couple of weeks before that he was on his way there.

I was hoping it was not true, but had that sinking feeling that it probably was and we would undo the good trade we made for him. Boston did okay in the deal though, as they won the AL pennant in ‘75 with Rick Wise being a big part of that ball club. And Bernie Carbo hit the big home run in game 6 – the “Hal Smith” homer to Fisk’s “Maz homer”. Well not quite since Maz’ was a game 7 shot.

If we had kept Reggie, and had he earned a red jacket, the Carlton trade would be viewed much differently.

That really hurts. Great centerfielder. Better player than Deion, and ended up with a better career than Bo.

46 – Jay Hanna (Dizzy) Dean, P (I didn’t realize it, but Dean had a 46 WAR for his career. He pitched best when he started as a major league player in 1932…
    Year W-L
    1932 18-15
    1933 20-8
    1934 20-7
    1935 28-12
    1936 24-13
    1937 13-10
    1938 6-4
    1939 7-1
    1940 3-3
1941 0-0 This was the age 31 season for Dean. He only
pitched 1 inning in 1041. Then he came back in
1947 and pitched 4 innings for the St. Louis
Browns at age 37. He made $89,900 during his
    7-year run with the Cardinals.

(It sure looks like he injured something during the 1937
    season.)

Hopefully mud checks in here this evening to make pick #46. It looks like mud’s last pick was at 11:46 ET/10:46 CT yesterday, so the 24 hour rule would apply at the same time tonight.

*Edit* Whew! At the very moment I posted, mud came through!

*EDIT2* Hey mud, please check your pick. We can give reaction time but you have selected a previously chosen player.
