BA at the time used the 130 abs/50 IP standard and ignored service time (I dont know what they currently do). The community had discussion among itself every year over which standard tô use but evry year ignoring service time won out. Tô me that makes sense and would be my choice. Why does it make sense goes tô the meaning of prospect.Here’s the thing also. Websites actually track service time now, including this one. It’s much easier to know these things than it was for Chris Perez and Greg Garcia.

I agree that several players could fit in this range, including McGreevy, Davis, Bernal, and even a couple more. Looking forward to seeing how the group votes at each spot! Thanks to all who add stats and other info about the players that go into your decision making. It helps to hear reasoning behind your decisions that also may sway others votes or future votes.
Graceffo at #7 for me. I could see him being a Helsley sort who could be a decent starter or a great reliever, which gives him a couple of ways to contribute.
I love Rajcic at #7, but a vote for him here would be akin to voting for Libertarian, Michael Rectenwald, for president in 2024. Why waste your vote? So, I’ll stick with another Michael at #7………Michael Steven McGreevy at numero siete por favor, Senor Nevel.
I’ll stick with Leo Bernal at #7.
His slash line of .316/.409/.459 away from Roger Dean Stadium translates as roughly a 140 OPS+.
And though backstop prospects are second only to twirlers in their combustibility, Bernal is less risky than most thanks to burgeoning plate discipline — his stellar BB/K ratio of 0.89 was 92nd percentile among all Florida State League batters with 250+ plate appearances. (Moreover, Leo is younger than the handful of FSL guys with a better walk/strikeout tally.)
I hate to disagree with Bob Reed, but I feel Bernal is a few more picks down the road. He is probably right, but I am hopeful we have some pitching prospects ahead of him. Next year ought to be interesting. Signing Lance Lynn to a 1 year deal may give us time to develop our young hurlers.
8 for Graceffo/5 for McGreevey/3 for Bernal/1 for Davis
Therefore, the win goes to Graceffo and he is our #7 Prospect.

7. GraceffoI have Chase Davis as my #8 on my list (with Bernal being my #9) so I’m ok with either of them at 8 but I’ll go with Davis for now. He has all the physical tools and is an exciting first round pick, but he’s a long ways off. Still, his defense received very good reviews and he hits the ball really hard. He just needs to make consistent contact, which will be the test. If he can do that, then he could be at the top of our list next year. If he can’t, then he’ll fall down this list like we’re going to see happen to Josh Baez this year. Note that Davis is easily a better defender than Baez.
Here are a few others to start thinking about that haven’t been mentioned yet: Won Bin Cho, Sem Robberse, Adam Kloffenstein, Zach Showalter, and Max Rajcic (who has been mentioned and even voted for once). Also, maybe Jimmy Crooks or Travis Honeyman or Ian Bedell could start joining the picture. All of these are guys who I’m really excited about along with one of my personal faves in Andre Granillo who I’ll get to in around 10 votes.

It may be an anomaly, but Graceffo has been noticeably worse against LH hitters in his career. That’s not a good sign for a conversion to relief pitcher. I would rather they leave him alone and let him build up his innings pitched in AAA this year and see where he stands next year. He will be 24 next year though, so they may push him.

Michael turned 23 in July. Adam turned 23 in August.McGreevy profiles as a #5 starter, unless he can add 2-3 mph to his pitches.
Pitching-wise, Robberse put up very similar metrics to Kloffenstein (with the exception of ERA) and is a year younger. I think Kloffenstein is the most MLB-ready, but give Robberse a slight edge due to age.
I still have Bernal rated above the pitchers at this point.
