stlcard25ParticipantTink Hence at #3. He wasn’t spectacular this year, but at his age he was pretty good.
November 14, 2023 at 11:56 am #237229
stlcard25ParticipantFor the record, my #1 would obviously be Winn, followed by Hence at #2, Roby at #3.
November 14, 2023 at 12:50 pm #237234If it’s okay I’m changing my 3 vote to Hence. I thought he was number 2.
November 14, 2023 at 1:45 pm #237235That works “27”. I’ll tally everything up later this evening. I’m going to try to stick with ~36 hour windows unless I hear a strong objection to move faster. That means round 4 will open around 8 or 9 pm CST tonight.
Right now it looks like it will be Hence for round 3 unless Roby finds a few more votes. Sorry Bling, I think you’re going to be voting McGreevey for a little while.
November 14, 2023 at 2:14 pm #237237Yeah, we like the shiny new toys, even if they couldn’t crack top ten where they were. I might shift to Scott.
November 14, 2023 at 2:30 pm #237239bccran
ParticipantAs Brian has reported, Scott just won the Gold Glove as the best defensive center fielder in all of minor league baseball.
November 14, 2023 at 2:35 pm #237240Think Tink. Please lodge my vote at #3 for “Tinker Bell” Hence.
November 14, 2023 at 7:53 pm #237253I count 7 votes for Hence, 6 for Roby, 1 for Scott, 1 for McGreevey, and 0 votes for Tom Cruise. So Roby is just edged out for the 2nd time. Hence is #3.
1. Winn
2. Saggese
3. HenceI’m voting Roby for #4.
November 14, 2023 at 8:05 pm #237255Roby #4
November 14, 2023 at 8:39 pm #237257bccran
ParticipantScott at #4.
November 14, 2023 at 9:33 pm #237259
stlcard25ParticipantRoby #4 for me.
November 14, 2023 at 9:47 pm #237261I’ll take Victor Scott at #4.
November 14, 2023 at 10:44 pm #237265When making my list a few weeks ago, I really struggled with this #4 pick. I’ve gone back & forth and forth & back quite a few times. One day I’m on the Scott bandwagon and the next day I find myself leaping off and looking to hitch a ride on team Roby. Right now I’m leaning towards Camp Roby, but I think I’ll wait until tomorrow to see if that one post comes in that totally sways me in one definite direction.
November 15, 2023 at 3:11 am #237267There are good arguments for Roby and Scott here, and it wouldn’t be crazy to go with Graceffo, McGreevy, Max Rajcic, or even Jimmy Dale Crooks III.
But I’ll take Leonardo Bernal at #4. The switch-hitting teen catcher was a distinctly above average hitter in the Florida State League, just as he was in 2022 over a modest sample size. And when he wasn’t battling the notorious environment of Roger Dean Stadium he was quite a bit better than his overall line.
At Roger Dean Hitter’s Graveyard: .235/.365/.306
Everywhere Else: .316/.409/.459I don’t expect Bernal’s truly big breakout to come until his age 21 season, at either AA or AAA. But he’s already been very good, and I think that’ll continue in 2024. He gets my vote.
And also, thanks, JNevel for your gracious words from a few days back — and for doing these administrative duties. ‘Preciate it.
November 15, 2023 at 5:32 am #237269Of the players who are getting attention at this point, I will go with Scott. Unlike, say Saggese, he has more than one standout tool, and he offers a package we could really use at the ML level. He also seems physically sound. I do still like McGreevy’s chances of contributing in STL this year. He went 11-6 for a team that was under .500 for the year (13-6 overall) and, importantly, answers the bell.
Scott #4.
November 15, 2023 at 8:59 am #237272When E.F. Hutton talks, people listen. And that goes double for when Bobby Reed or Bling fire off a post. But this time I believe Bobby has uncharacteristically strayed a titch too far off base in his placement of Leonardo Abdiel Bernal in the prestigious #4 slot. Leonardo strikes my fancy too, but I’ve got him inserted miles away…….way down at #14. After much thought, I’m siding with the esteemed trio of Bling, Grenadier and Cranny here at #4…….Victor Dwanyne Scott por favor, Senor Nevel.

November 15, 2023 at 9:14 am #237274
cardsfan64ParticipantI will add my vote for Roby as well. I really like Scott, and he will be next on my list!
November 15, 2023 at 9:16 am #237275PadsFS
Participant#4 Tekoah TK Roby
Roby has good speed on the fastball, a killer curve, and above-average slider and change. The only downside to him is his health, issues with both his elbow and shoulder. Subsequently, his innings load is now low for someone that may be looking at a 2025 debut.
November 15, 2023 at 10:06 am #237281Pugs, I do appreciate your charismatic flair for your choice! It still only counts as 1 vote mind you, but your vote gets an asterisk!
November 15, 2023 at 11:24 am #23729314NyquisT
ParticipantNo brainer….. #4. ROBY.
November 15, 2023 at 11:31 am #23729714NyquisT
ParticipantBobby….. deja vu all over again.
November 15, 2023 at 11:50 am #237301#4 Tekoah Roby
November 15, 2023 at 12:05 pm #237304#4 Scott – soley based on the hype
November 15, 2023 at 12:31 pm #237310Nice to see Bod Reed pull Leonardo Bernal right on up, front and center. His emergence as a hitter, along with his still developing, ‘above average’ defense has generated much optimism for this teenager. He reportedly has an excellent attitude and work ethic which his coaches love. All of that, PLUS, he catches from the crouch with no leg extended.
Here are a couple of Youtube videos of this kid:
All of this said, there are a few other talented players that I feel I have to rank higher than Bernal.
There have been many positive reports on Roby, and I was expecting to vote for him at #4. But after comparing his actual stats to Scott’s stats, I don’t fell comfortable ranking Roby ahead of Scott, especially with Scott’s recent minor league Gold Glove award.
Victor Scott II at #4.
