As for going further, I believe we had a top 92 one year I was helping. So…we certainly have the knowledge here to go into extra innings.

I’m sure the powers that be (J. Nevel & cardsfan64) have been huddled in intent conversation as to just how far to extend this top prospect list. Do we do 55? 60? A most lofty total of 92, as stlcard25 proposed? Or the near unattainable 100, as LouisEu dangled out there? I think it would be nice if a decision were to be rendered before high noon tomorrow (Monday).

I would be willing to monitor the votes up to 60 if the group wishes, but will need to back out then due to holiday activities. Haven’t had any contact with jnevel to this point and will defer to him since he started this thread. Last three in our top 50 will be posted tonight! Still have a few regular voters that haven’t submitted their votes.
P.S. I have noticed that we are getting a wide spectrum of players with only one voter naming them on their ballot (10 this past vote so far). Seems like the farther out we get that there is no consensus. Might be a good reason to cap it at 60.

Great call cardsfan64! I’m all for 60 too if no vehement objections arise.

Cards64, I agree. Capping it at 55 or 60 is probably best (60 is fine as you suggested). I think we could get around 80-85 prospects named if we wanted to but after that our other players truly are just filler with not much potential to ever be in the big leagues. We could also do like Brian and Blake and just name our “Best of the Rest”. To do that, we could run the normal vote to 50 (which ends tonight) and then each of us names 15 other prospects that we like who we considered for the top 50 (or we had in the top 50). Then, you can make a master sheet of how many times those guys got named in someone’s list to come up with our final Best of the Rest in no particular order. I can help count them up if you want. So either method works but I kind of prefer this Best of the Rest method because it gets hard at this point to rank guys in order.

I agree, Jnevel. Best of the rest works for me with the best 15 left after our top 50. What does everyone else think? We could probably go 48 hours to make sure everyone gets their choices in. I could then run a tally of how many times a player was named and post that to close us out.

Cardinals27, for clarification, did you mean Benito Garcia, or Roy Garcia?

    I agree
    15 names every voters
Probably we’ll have 25-30 names on the table
The 15 most voted are “the best of the rest”
    it’s right?

    LouisEu,
As far as I understood jnevel, and my past experience of voting in this poll; we will include all votes but rank them by how many votes each player gets. So if Adari Grant is named on 10 ballots and Chris Rotando is listed 8 times, Grants name would be placed above Rotando on our “Best of the Rest” list. Each voter will list their top 15 choices, but we very well could have over 30 names mentioned. They will, however, be placed in order by how many ballots they are mentioned on.

    ok sounds good.
possibly a requirement of “at least two votes” could be put in place.
Just to avoid crazy names 🙂

We now have our complete Community 2024 Top 50 Prospects! Well done, everyone! In a few months, we will begin to see how our choices actually perform on the diamond!
It has been suggested that we continue with a “Best of the Rest” vote to add players that made our personal list but not the groups. Maybe you feel like some a player or players will take off this spring and put it all together and rise up the prospect list. The plan is to choose up to 15 additional players (in no particular order) and they will receive a tally for each voter that includes them in their list. On Tuesday evening, I will tally up the names and list them in order of tally marks.

I am very satisfied with the good work we all did together.
Of our TOP 50, 44 are also in my personal ranking. I hadn’t included C.Thomas (dropped to my #51 for new arrivals), R.Fernandez, A.Iadisernia, RJ Yeager, N.Church and A.Love.

So my 15 “best of rest” are primarily my six top50 not selected by the group and then the next nine:
    J.Cordoba (my #40)
    S.Hernandez (#43)
    L.Sequera (#45)
    J. King (#46)
    K. Kretzschmar (#47)
    J.Salazar (#49)
    L.Rodriguez (the one from 2004)
    J. Savacool
    C. Harrison
    I. Henderson
    R. Garcia
    T. Richardson
    L. Pino

Yes great effort everyone. Thanks to the worthies who led the effort this year.

For this last bunch, my first group are those from my matrix who did not make the list. Then I took another quick look at those mentioned by others and chose a group. And the final name is my ‘if you have a jersey, you have a chance’ group.

    Charles Harrison
    William Sullivan
    Guillermo Zuniga
    Riley O’Brien
    Adari Grant
    Zane Mills
    Jason Savacool
