Notice most of these kids are academic honors types?
June 15, 2020 at 12:44 pm #130646bcc, I noticed that.
BTW, BA lists Bucherger as a 3B
June 15, 2020 at 1:28 pm #130653The #stlcards up their total of free agents signed from the 2020 non-drafted class to six. The newest addition is 3B Jacob Buchberger @Jakebuch02. (free) https://t.co/rmW7eZLlvO pic.twitter.com/Vmv2s2aYxe

June 15, 2020 at 1:39 pm #130655Apparently, there is concern that not all teams like the $20,000 cap on signing bonuses and may try to circumvent the process. 😉
Source tells Baseball America that MLB has sent a memo warning teams to not offer "exorbitant" amounts in the continuing education scholarship program when trying to sign undrafted free agents (limited to $20,000 bonuses).

Giants gave $2.5M to Kyle Harrison (third rounder, HS LHP)
(slot was $710,700)
June 15, 2020 at 3:16 pm #130659Apparently, not many players from a D1 power 5 conference are signing as an UDFA. Dalatri is the only one we have signed thus far.
June 15, 2020 at 3:24 pm #130662It is rumored that the Brewers may give a six-figure amount to Noah Campbell to finish school and for his medical degree.
June 15, 2020 at 3:25 pm #130663Noah Campbell plays for South Carolina.
June 15, 2020 at 5:05 pm #130683Two more new #stlcards added to our Day 2 of free agent signings article. They include C Nick Raposo @NRaposo8 of Wheaton College @WheatonBSB and RHP Nick Trogrlic-Iverson @NickTIverson of @GonzagaBaseball. (free) https://t.co/rmW7eZLlvO pic.twitter.com/1gtlv3mack

June 15, 2020 at 5:49 pm #130699thanks Brian (and everyone) for the updates and Brian for the write-ups
June 15, 2020 at 5:55 pm #130701You are welcome!
June 15, 2020 at 5:57 pm #130703here’s a little bit from D Goold while we wait for Brian’s expertise:
NICK TROGRLIC-IVERSON, RHP, Gonzaga
A native of Oakville, Ontario, Trogrlic-Iverson transferred from an Arizona junior college to Gonzaga before his junior season. He spent the previous two seasons between the rotation and relief for the Zags, and overall had 30 games (11 starts) to go with one save and 61 strikeouts in 89 innings pitched. This season, in 21 1/3 innings, he walked only three batters and saw an uptick in strikeout rate with 20. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound righthander was 4-3 with a 5.05 ERA in his junior year.
June 15, 2020 at 7:21 pm #130708Ian Bedell signed also? that’s what it says in this article https://www.vivaelbirdos.com/st-louis-cardinals-news-analysis-mlb/2020/6/15/21292001/the-cardinals-sign-some-drafted-players-and-a-few-undrafted-free-agents-a-hunt-and-peck
June 15, 2020 at 8:48 pm #130717from D Goold:
Cardinals have signed their 70th overall pick, outfielder Alex Burleson, to a contract, and have finalized it for a below-slot bonus. A pitcher/outfielder for East Carolina, Burleson will focus on hitting with the Cardinals slot for the 70th overall pick is $906,800.
The Cardinals are working on an agreement with Mizzou pitcher Ian Bedell, and his bonus is expected to be for above slot because he had some leverage when it came to returning to the Tigers to enhance his draft stock.
June 15, 2020 at 9:25 pm #130723Today’s article now includes all of Blake Newberry’s scouting reports.
June 16, 2020 at 8:44 am #130750UncleDennyParticipantI like most of the draftees and non draft signees but brings up the point of how on God’s green earth they can all play and develop without Johnson City and State College as springboards to Peoria. They will have to add at least one if not two additional clubs in Jupiter perhaps in coordination with the other nearby clubs
June 16, 2020 at 8:53 am #130753Faster releases of current players is another possibility.
June 16, 2020 at 11:01 am #130766Faster releases of current players is another possibility.
As we all saw when seven 2019 draft picks were released at the end of May, which included some guys who had played/pitched well as well.
June 16, 2020 at 11:02 am #130767Burleson signed for $700,000 on a $906,800 slot.
Cardinals have $7,201,100 remaining.
June 16, 2020 at 11:28 am #130771thanks BHC
June 16, 2020 at 4:59 pm #130784"Mr. Jones Becomes a Cardinal"

June 16, 2020 at 10:03 pm #130801LJ Jones IV signed for $100,000 on a $350,300 slot.
Cardinals have $7,101,100 remaining.
June 16, 2020 at 10:12 pm #130802UncleDennyParticipantWouldn’t be surprised at another 15 or so releases by the end of June. I actually saw about that many that I was surprised survived the last cuts.
