The last time the #stlcards took high schoolers with their first three draft picks was in 2015 – Nick Plummer, Jake Woodford and Bryce Denton. Their next four selections were Harrison Bader, Jordan Hicks Paul DeJong and Ryan Helsley. In other words, these picks still matter.

Burleson makes sense if they picked him for a future left handed DH. O’Dowd said with Burleson it’s all about his bat, has a beautiful LH swing. Jim Callis said he was one of the better sleeper bats in the draft.
Jim Callis seemed surprised he last til round 4 also.
He thought third round or even 2nd round.think he’ll sign?

Someone needs to snag Casey Opitz. His defensive skills as catcher are big league ready now. The bat will come later.

Just put a movie I’m watching with my wife on pause to see who they took in the 4th round. Shocker! Yea!!! Bedell! The steal of the draft! Watch him come through the system. He’s 110% driven. Made the draft for me. Happy camper now.

Walker is very special. Really like him. Didn’t particularly care for the next 2, but
Winn may have some promise on the mound. Burleson doesn’t have any outstanding tools, but he’s a gutsy player who keeps proving people wrong. Gotta respect that.I almost wonder if some of these guys are taken so that a year or so from now they could be included in a trade like with Burleson, if the NL doesn’t get the DH then perhaps he could be traded over to the AL for somebody later on down the line…no that wouldn’t be the only reason that we drafted him but just a possibility later on…
Not a bad draft at all, upside, and a couple of guys who should be valuable BP pieces at the least. Now let’s play real ball!

After looking into them more, Prater and Burleson seem to be money saving picks. The others seem to be at about the correct value for where they were drafted. Is Winn, Tink or Bedell supposed to demand more than the slot?
