CC… If Torres develops some versatility the organization tends to move primo prospects to a position that gives him the best chance to advance through the system.
Otherwise, I like to see tall corner infielders, ala Schmidt and Goldschmidt.

That certainly could be. I hope you read the article, as that was definitely mentioned. But at the time we voted, it was not certain that Urias was going to be protected from Rule 5.

Delvin Perez numbers at the Puerto Rican Winter League are horrible. 14 games played. 3 errors and the best for last .178 OPS
It is also fair to note that winter ball competition is quite a bit up from short-season. Yet, it does provide another data point to add to the ongoing concern over when/if his bat is ever going to come around.
Maybe move Perez to center field? It worked great for Mercado. But it sounds like a lack of strength coupled with a poor approach at the plate. I thought reports were very good on his fielding though in short season ball.
Also, has Cabrera continued to pitch well out of the bullpen in winter league?
Perez is a pretty good SS. His problem is hitting. Oquendo worked with him extensively for two years. I am no longer as optimistic as I once was.
Yes, Cabrera continues to pitch well in relief. Encouraging, but it is not MLB.
The Cardinals have put Perez on a nutrition diet to gain weight (and muscle strength) for the past 2 seasons and its apparent the plans have failed.

Looking at those ranked ahead of Cabrera on the member list, I would only find a couple that you might quibble with and put Genesis ahead of. Ponce at #10 has the down side of age, although he has proven capable at the MLB level already and was the Memphis pitcher of the year on the site. So I can see that. Griffin Roberts is the other, but I can see the allure of the shiny new toy. At this point I’d probably rank Cabrera ahead due to the drug suspension of Roberts, but I’m not sure it’s a slam dunk unless you think Roberts is definitely headed for relief.
Both Thomas and Carlson made it into the Top 10 for TCN. There was a time when the organization had to bring Ron Gant in to play left field because they didn’t have an outfield prospect with enough upside that was anywhere close to being ready. TLR once called Gant out for ‘looking good striking out’.
I’m hoping that you are right, Brian. Ending up as a mid rotation lefty or dominant reliever would be a great revelation for Genesis.
Reyes, Hudson, Cabrerra, Gomber, Ponce De Leon, Gant, Woodford, and Evan K all seem like they are priority AAA starters. Injuries may happen, but one or two of the free agents could surprise also.
I think it could be time to simply take the best arms North and let development be damned. Is it even possible that they would put Reyes and Hudson in the pen and let Hicks start at Memphis? It seems to me that boat had already sailed.
The August TCN list had Cabrera #14. Thomas#19, Carlson #16, Helsley #7. Two of the three have fallen out of your top-10. I’m fairly certain that my guess is accurate.
Incorrect guess, Ny. If we take Kelly out, since he was traded since, all four of the names you cite are in my personal top 10 used for the combined site rankings for 2019.
