I like that the reds are playing good, in our 2 previous sweeps this year against Milw and LAD, our next series we came out flat in the first game against teams that werent playing well at the time… Reds and Mets. Even I think after big series wins esp sweeps, teams come out with a ho hum attitude the next game but with visits to cincy and chg this week, I dont see that being the case. Honestly the series that worries me the most is against the Marlins next week after playing the cubs and reds.
stl and gscott make very valid points. I just worry about signing a pitcher who hasn’t pitched in a game since last season without any spring training. look what happen last year with holland. As far as a starter< I think madbum would be the best choice because he has playoff exp, and being that he’s only 29, we can sign him to like a 5 year deal. Scherzer is the sentimental choice being he’s from stl and would be a great fit to our rotation, I’d still go with Madbum because he’s a lefty, has playoff experience, we can get him long term. only question is who do we risk giving up in the trade?
Glad we have a day off before playing the Reds.
Good point Forsch
I’m with you rats about comparing hicks to rosenthal but I think hicks is more an 8th inning guy. Perhaps we should think about picking up Kimbrel
Let’s go sweeping!
1 to go. That insurance run is even bigger now
I agree 858
Bring in Gant
Agree with you stl
Hicks it seems can’t make it easy
2 to go
There’s some cubs on the floor. I’ll need to get my broom out
Good call stl. Carp comes thru. That was a big insurance run.
Looks out but maybe not clear enough to overturn it
Carp putting one in the Cardinal bullpen for 3-0 lead would be nice
Good game by Waino but question is with all these pitches, how will it effect him next Saturday against the cubs?
I think there’s more pressure on the pen to hold a 1-0 lead than than letting Waino come out and at least start the 9th.
Does Schildt dare bring him out to start the 9th? I say yes as long as his spot doesn’t.come up I the 8th
Wow, just wow
My heart is beating fast. You got this Waino.
Let’s end this inning with a dp and a loud ovation.
I’m with you stl. This is risky
I think Schildt is doing this because Waino will have an extra day of rest with the off day tomorrow.
If Waino does start the 8th, it may be just to 1 or 2 batters.
