They had no one up before the walk to Heyward.
June 2, 2019 at 2:58 pm #92735Waino thru seven without giving up a run! Very effective despite the number of walks (yes, aided by three DP’s). This has to be his best outing in quite awhile. Will he go out to the mound in the eighth? I am guessing not.
June 2, 2019 at 3:00 pm #92737Assuming Gant comes in … do they let him pursue a two inning save?
June 2, 2019 at 3:00 pm #92738Certainly that will close the book on Wainwright. He has 108 pitches for 7 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit.
June 2, 2019 at 3:00 pm #92739
stlcard25ParticipantWaino may not have been able to avoid a bunch of walks, but he pitched around any trouble and kept the Cubs at bay. 1-0 at the stretch.
June 2, 2019 at 3:01 pm #92741I agree 858. Gant is up and will probably start the 8th and possibly be called upon to get a 2 inning save.
June 2, 2019 at 3:03 pm #92742Gallegos looked sharp last night, would they give him another high-leverage inning?
June 2, 2019 at 3:03 pm #92743Waino has the towel wrap so he may come out for the 8th unless his spot comes up this inning.
June 2, 2019 at 3:05 pm #92744If Waino does start the 8th, it may be just to 1 or 2 batters.
June 2, 2019 at 3:07 pm #92745Christ Horton talking up Waino like he’s a reincarnated Verlander.
June 2, 2019 at 3:07 pm #92746I was wrong. Wainwright’s book is still open.
June 2, 2019 at 3:08 pm #92747
stlcard25ParticipantWaino appeared to be heading back to the mound at the commercial break.
June 2, 2019 at 3:09 pm #92748I think Schildt is doing this because Waino will have an extra day of rest with the off day tomorrow.
June 2, 2019 at 3:09 pm #92749
stlcard25ParticipantOne pitch, one out for Waino.
June 2, 2019 at 3:11 pm #92750Agree Dave
June 2, 2019 at 3:11 pm #92751
stlcard25ParticipantKnizner looks pretty good behind the plate, and has called a solid game.
Man, that 1-2 was called a strike a lot of times already tonight.
June 2, 2019 at 3:12 pm #92752
stlcard25ParticipantAnother walk for Wainwright…is he gonna leave him in to face the lefty Schwarber? I don’t like this one bit.
June 2, 2019 at 3:14 pm #92753This does not feel good, 😳
June 2, 2019 at 3:15 pm #92754Did Ozuna overrun that ball a bit?
June 2, 2019 at 3:15 pm #92755I’m with you stl. This is risky
June 2, 2019 at 3:15 pm #92756
stlcard25ParticipantGoodness, is every single bullpen pitcher injured or something? If Wainwright wiggles out of this, then that will be incredible.
June 2, 2019 at 3:15 pm #92757Ozuna hustled, but feet first was not the way to extend for the Schwarber fly. cubs now have two on, one out. Shildt is determined to win or lose with Wainwright, now at 122 pitches against Bryant.
June 2, 2019 at 3:16 pm #92758Let’s end this inning with a dp and a loud ovation.
June 2, 2019 at 3:16 pm #92759Big strike out!
June 2, 2019 at 3:17 pm #92760
stlcard25ParticipantWow, nice K. Down goes the villain Bryant.
