Schildt is not the right person to lead this team in the right direction. He’s the good job at least you tried leader. We need a leader to light a fire under their bottom. We are not the only team that has had to overcome injuries, batting slumps, bullpen trouble, miscues in the field, but we struggle to find what works because Schildt is we’ll get em next game but that’s not based on something he does different but more on hope. We actually have a good team…I strongly believe that but you wouldn’t know it. If you take any of the other division leading managers and put with our team, we have at least 5-7 more wins and Put Schildt with them… they’re not leading their respective divisions. I believe a team takes on the personality of its manager which explains are dull, lifeless approach to all games. Have you ever seen Schildt truly back his players during a game… mainly the pitchers esp on close calls. At most you see him in the dugout yell out… that was a strike.

I flipped a coin and it said the Braves will win.

Was it a double sided coin?

We swept the Marlins scoring a total of 7 runs. You’ll pardon me if I don’t get overly excited. I still think we need a new hitting coach and I’m sorry…. I know I’m in the minority here but Schildt is not the one to lead this team to a 12 title. His use of the starting pitching staff is questionable at best along with his confidence in them even when they’re doing well. At 87 pitches, Oviedo who was in control and in command of his pitches was taken out of the game in hopes that we could produce a 2 out hit from a 111 hitter. How can that be justified? I know that’s not because they want to save Oviedos and he only lasted 7 because his spot didn’t come up in the 6th. If you’re a starting Cardinal pitcher and under the age of 35, you will not pitch past the 7th inning if your spot in the order is up or you give up a hit after 5 . We need a new hitting coach and new Manager or this will be the Cardinals future…, Winning series against Young and inexperienced teams and being overmatched or out managed, in some cases both with the rest of the league.

The Cardinals showed heart and resilience in this one. Unfortunately it did not end up in a victory. A much needed day off and another day off Thursday heading into the weekend series against the Cubs.

At least we have the right batters coming up each of who can tie it with one swing. Let’s finish with a back to back walk off.

On more than a few occasions this year.. we have had the chance late to produce that big hit or make that big pitch and failed. We have done both this game. Let’s get one more big hit and give Reyes a chance at the save.

A clutch hit from Carp producing runs, a big 2 out hit from one of our star players, and a shutdown inning from our bullpen to keep it tied . That is just crazy. What’s next? The Cardinals ride that momentum and push thru and battle to take the lead.

It’s a brand new game. It’s almost like the Cardinals as a team said enough is enough. Hopefully this momentum and new found energy carries over to our bullpen.

Overcoming a big deficit may be just what this team needs.

And Waddell was pitcher of the week back in 2018 for the Indianapolis Indians. Maybe he can recapture some of that magic and bring it to the Cardinals. Ahhh I can see it now. He goes into the 6th inning with a 2-0 lead… gives up his 2nd hit of the game… he’s under 30, so Schildt pulls him brings in Ponce who gives up the game tying homer. But not to worry because next inning we have runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 out and Schildt looks to the bench for that player to get that big hit. Who will it be? It’s Carp. Carp looks at the first pitch right down the middle, swings at the next pitch in the dirt, fowls of a few and then with all his might swings at the next pitch pulling it to the right where the ss awaits for the easy 6-3 putout.

So typical of the Cardinals season. A player has the chance to step up and get a big two out hit and fails.

Blame the hitting or lack of pitching or even the injuries but in my opinion this team has no heart. Look at the Giants. We have a better team batting Average, better era, and the giants have had Longo, belt, Crawford, solano, cueto, yaz, Webb all on the d.l. But still with all that they have the best record in baseball. And why is that because a 220 hitter will get the big hit or a north of 4 era bullpen pitcher will get that big out. Sadly this team is taking on the personality of its Manager… just going through the motions and using cliche robotic responses.

Does anyone know why Schildt pinch hit for Oviedo opting to bring a struggling middle relief core in the game as oppose letting Oviedo ride it out and resting some arms. And btw, what was the offensive result for pinch hitting? I honestly don’t know. I’m at work so I’m not watching the game.

Is it just me or does it feel like this team is slowly falling apart? We may not be fully right until after the all star break. The question is can we do enough to keep it together mentally so that when we do figure it out and get healthy, will it be too late or will someone step up and keep us afloat and give us a fighting chance heading into the final 2 months? I honestly don’t know.

So far we’ve increased our win total by 2 each month… and looking ahead to our schedule in June… it’s promising that we can do at least 18 wins. I’m saying 18-9

2 errors lead to 2 runs. Edman and Sosa need to atone fore their errors but I’m not holding my breath.

The Weather Channel radar shows some green stuff just west of Chicago. Hope it doesnt impact this game tonight but who knows.

There may be a delay to start the game but hopefully we get it in.

If we get this game in, I’d maybe extend the pitch count for Flare, rest the bullpen assuming he will have a Typical Flare outing. I say this because he would be next scheduled to pitch Sunday against the Dbacks but I’d hold him for the series opener against The Dodgers which would pit him against Bauer.

I made my self an old pal before tonight’s game. Waiting for the game to start and dinner to be finished cooking. In the meantime I am watching the Indians-Tigers game.

Sorry Pugs, I’m going to have to disagree with you about the final score. I’m taking the Cardinals 4-1 but at least we can agree the Cardinals will win. I’m also predicting Moroff will get his first hit of the season.

I would probably take Herr over Edman but I like the rest of your picks.

I don’t think you could go wrong either way.

Our last 13 games are against the Brewers-7 and Cubs-6. With that, we as do they control their own destiny as far as the postseason goes and division title. I’m thinking 93 wins gets us a division title… 86 gets us a wildcard birth.

I like the fact that Schildt stuck with KK. Even after the homerun. Schildt needs to have more confidence in his starters that they can get out of situations after the 5th inning. And the way our middle relief is right now… it just makes more sense to let our starters get out of their own jam rather than rely on an inconsistent bullpen to do it. Maybe later in the season but for now… my trust is with the starters over the middle relief

Should be a good game tonight hopefully ending a Cardinals win. Giolito struggled in the beginning but has since settled down. The under is a good bet tonight. If we can win tonight, Gant should at least give us a chance to take the series but it won’t be easy against Rodon.

Not sure what exactly is going on with the Cardinals hitting of late or how to correct it. Hoping we just figure it out, but if it doesn’t correct itself soon…maybe consider replacing the hitting coach is an option. This isn’t the first year we’ve struggled with the offense. It seems we’ve been on a decline since 2019.

Tonight’s dinner will consist of homemade chicken and rice soup( perfect for this Oregon gloomy weather), some bread. A cocktail before the game and 1 after dinner… topped of with a cup of coffee and 2 scoops of ice cream( peach and caramel toffee.
