I dont know the site but they ranked the cardinals the 4th best draft class. Thats hard to believe. They did get some decent guys vut when ypur draft includes guys not ranked in top 500, that has to take away from your draft regardless of why you took them. To me there isnt one player there that would totally shock me if they never made it to a major league field. The closest to that would be maybe cal randall but even he needs a lot of work. But i guess we will see.

I was figuring the draft may have had some bearing on it. I know he has potential though.

I went over the article brian put out. I had 4 players today that somewhat stood out to me not counting ritchie.
    1. Cal randall. Def a solid pick. Great strikeout rate, can hit over 100, but needs to throw more strikes so i think thats doable.
2.luke harrison. Lefty pitcher , good strikeout rate. Has a good pitch selection if not great.
    3. Nick bonn. A reliever who won some relief awards. High 90s multiple pitches. Right hander.
    4. Jacob johnson. Third baseman. Good pop and avg. He was a later pick but i think hes solid. Not much said about defense though.

There def was a lot of guys that werent worth picking where they were at. In fact some prob shouldnt have been picked at all. It would be interesting to see the list of players not drafted.

Well ritchies strikeout totals are within normal numbers for a power hitter of his calibre in college. Guys in majors strike out all the time and they are considered great.

I dont know albert. I didnt see a whole lot that they should be spending that money on esp with ritchie prob out. They had like the third highest pool i believe. You couldnt have assumed ritchie was gonna be there in the 20th round. Just didnt seem like a great draft to me. But maybe there is some brilliance in the madness.

Yep those guys on mlb were grasping at straws with some of the picks particularly some of the cardinals though not exclusively them.

I have a question for any who know. What happens to the pool money if the cardinals dont spend it all.

Ritchie is a decent player but has holes. Im not sure its worth throwing the money at him but i didnt see a whole lot else they should be throwing money at. I dont blame him for going back. I think all playets should go to college and finish school. Think life after ball,it may come sooner than u think.

Well it isnt going matter. Ritchie decided to go back to school for his senior season. Do the cards get another pick

One late pick im interested in was jacob johnson. A third baseman with some good offensive numbers. Wasnt much said about defense but his bat seems prime. He seems a lot closer than some of the earlier picks.

How did kollin ritchie fall all the way down there. Thats a solid pick no.matter where they picked him.

I dont know. It seems like this draft was all over the place for the cardinals. Pitching wise i see maybe two or three possible starters, a lot of relievers. Quite a few unproven lets hope for stars hitters, and a few guys im not sure can play anywhere but the bench. A lot of these guys werent even ranked in the top 500. Im not a draft expert, maybe brian can make sense of it all when its all done.

Cardinals take nick bonn. Right handed pitcher. Had a great year in relief for cal poly. Has moved around a lot in college. Mostly avg numbers before but maybe they figured out something with him at cal poly. I think im gonna move on now. Check out their later guys tonight.

Jaden lobliner is next pick. Catcher out of san diego st i believe. Couldnt find much on him. Apparently these guys on mlb coukdnt either. I believe there were far better picks, prob a money saver pick.

Cardinals just picked left handid picher luke harrison out of texas. Had tommy john in 2023. Decent guy but needs a lot of work. Mostly a reliever.

They just picked derek schaefer out of arizona state,a junior. Right handed pitcher. Was a standout in high school. Pitched well this season. Solid pick. Not a whole lot of info on him.

The problem with picking condon at 13 is you have guys that are better nore tested on the board right now. Now condon has potential to be better than those but same goes he has potential to be worse. I dont mibd a pick like henne at pick 175 who is def a hoping type pick because while there may be be better players around him to a degree that have faced better competition but the difference is negligible.

I think henne def falls into that drafting on potential. Does have great statistics though against weaker competition. The more i think about it, the more i like it. This is def one of those go for it picks. Will see how he does against better competition.

The guy is own henne. Played at a division 2 school but recently commited to west virginia i believe. Kind of an odd pick i think. Apparently another shortstop. I dont think he would have been drafted if the cardinals didnt take him. In this day and age if these network guys are so surprised they have to go google a guy you know its a stretch pick.
