Cal Randal was a reliever at UCLA…has a huge fastball 100 MPH….control is questionable

The guy is own henne. Played at a division 2 school but recently commited to west virginia i believe. Kind of an odd pick i think. Apparently another shortstop. I dont think he would have been drafted if the cardinals didnt take him. In this day and age if these network guys are so surprised they have to go google a guy you know its a stretch pick.

I admit that I don’t know near as much about potential draftees as most of you guys do. My knowledge is primarily players who play in the SEC as I do follow college baseball in these parts a little bit.

So if the reports say that Condon could potentially be another PCA then I think that is a steal at pick number 13. PCA, while in possession of an annoying personality, is clearly the best player on the Cubs and probably will garner NL MVP votes for years to come.

I think henne def falls into that drafting on potential. Does have great statistics though against weaker competition. The more i think about it, the more i like it. This is def one of those go for it picks. Will see how he does against better competition.

The problem with picking condon at 13 is you have guys that are better nore tested on the board right now. Now condon has potential to be better than those but same goes he has potential to be worse. I dont mibd a pick like henne at pick 175 who is def a hoping type pick because while there may be be better players around him to a degree that have faced better competition but the difference is negligible.

They just picked derek schaefer out of arizona state,a junior. Right handed pitcher. Was a standout in high school. Pitched well this season. Solid pick. Not a whole lot of info on him.

Derek Schaefer pitched at Tennessee on their national championship team before transferring to ASU.

Think he is a relief pitcher

Cardinals just picked left handid picher luke harrison out of texas. Had tommy john in 2023. Decent guy but needs a lot of work. Mostly a reliever.

Luke Harrison was the #3and sometimes #2 starter at Texas this year…16 starts 6-4 4.10 ERA…this may be a save some money pick since they have so many to sign as he is a grad student.

Jaden lobliner is next pick. Catcher out of san diego st i believe. Couldnt find much on him. Apparently these guys on mlb coukdnt either. I believe there were far better picks, prob a money saver pick.

9th round….Jayden Lobliner C from Univ Of San Diego….was at Kansas State before transferring to SD…hit.297 was WCC defensive player of the year in 2025

Last 3 picks will just have to see…think they save some $ with them for their higher picks but that is just a guess

Cardinals take nick bonn. Right handed pitcher. Had a great year in relief for cal poly. Has moved around a lot in college. Mostly avg numbers before but maybe they figured out something with him at cal poly. I think im gonna move on now. Check out their later guys tonight.

Brian, maybe an off the wall question, but I noticed one of the picks who is a pitcher also played some infield. We have seen several players who did both (ie. Masyn Winn) and a thought occured to me; can a pitcher come in and play a position, say in an extra inning game when the bench has been used up already? My initial thought is yes, but I didn’t know if there was any rule against that. Having some athletic pitchers that could come into a game in an energency and play the field would be very helpful!

Seems like a lot of reliever risk with pitchers we drafted.

Cardinals 20th round pick #594….is MLB’s 84th ranked player Kollin Ritchie, Okla. State OF …had 31 HR’s, 4th in NCAA this year…he is a Junior….if they saved some money this could be where it goes.

I dont know. It seems like this draft was all over the place for the cardinals. Pitching wise i see maybe two or three possible starters, a lot of relievers. Quite a few unproven lets hope for stars hitters, and a few guys im not sure can play anywhere but the bench. A lot of these guys werent even ranked in the top 500. Im not a draft expert, maybe brian can make sense of it all when its all done.

How did kollin ritchie fall all the way down there. Thats a solid pick no.matter where they picked him.

One late pick im interested in was jacob johnson. A third baseman with some good offensive numbers. Wasnt much said about defense but his bat seems prime. He seems a lot closer than some of the earlier picks.

One wonders why he slid that far.
