ParticipantHence purely on projection.

Participant#4 – Tink Hence – He is going to be special. I love that the Cardinals challenged him with the AFL assignment as well. Hopefully, they don’t try to pull him up to the ML bullpen early like they did with Hicks.
November 13, 2022 at 11:34 am #206668#4 Burleson.
I have an issue with moving Hence up to 4 from his pre-2022 rank in the 18-20 range based on about about 50 IP in low A and a handful or two IP in AFL. It seems like being overtaken by irrational enthusiasm over a small sample of limited practical meaningfulness. Maybe lower in the top 10 would be a more sober placement.
That said, others worthy of consideration this high in the ranking have issues as well. For me it comes down to Burleson and Moises Gomez, both of whom are on an upward results trajectory, unlike most or all of the other worthies besides Hence. Gomez came out of nowhere, and I think I would drop him a bit until we see what next year brings. Burleson improved his results going from AA to AAA and did not have enough MLB sample size to mean anything, so I will go with him. Defensive questions mean he will live or die with his bat, and that is always a question with a guy just on the cusp of a regular MLB lineup slot.

ParticipantI’d have Herrera over Burleson myself.
November 13, 2022 at 12:43 pm #206676#4 Burleson
November 13, 2022 at 2:59 pm #206686bccran
ParticipantBurleson for #4.
November 13, 2022 at 6:38 pm #206693This is a tough one, if Hence would have pitched 100 innings vs 50, he would be my no doubt #4 (probably #3 actually), but the way they babied him has me concerned and the fans and even the media never know the whole story…..
That being said, I have to go with #4 Burleson.
November 13, 2022 at 6:41 pm #206694Someone mentioned Moises Gomez, I don’t have a clue where he’s going to slot in for me or on these rankings….. heck, a case could be made for #5 as easy as it could for #20.

I had mentioned him up above and feel the same way. He came out of nowhere but there is no arguing with his great results in the upper levels this season. Most especially his hitting for power results and what that may mean for his chances to break in and stick. After all, a bunch of gold gloves didn’t field us past Philly, but a thumper might have hit us past them.
His D might or might not limit his potential, and by how much? I don’t know. And to what extent might he be a one season wonder?
November 13, 2022 at 8:31 pm #206710I’ll take Hence at #4. Production over a smaller sample size. He has the big time tools for a ace type arm, but is a lot of projection right now. Can he survive a third time through the order, which he hasn’t been asked to do yet? Not a bad floor though, as he could quickly be a back of the bullpen type if needed. Hope the production stays through the innings ramp up and probable promotion this year. Nice to have a few exciting pitching prospects to wish on again.
November 14, 2022 at 7:10 am #206733Burleson @ 4
For me this is due to Burleson’s rapid rise through the minors and the fact he’s almost virtually a major leaguer at this point. I absolutely love Hence’s upside, but he still has a long ways to go to get there and will have chances to move up our prospect voting in the future. This is very likely Burleson’s last year to be in the prospect rankings.

cardsfan64ParticipantPadsFS, if your count is for #4 on the list, I voted for Burleson, not Hence. Voted for Hence in round 3.
If your message is related to round 3, disregard this message.
