By the way, Tommy Edman is batting .307…without him we aren’t in the playoffs. He is our position player of the year.

Participanthey Colorado won, cant believe our luck. I know people don’t want to use Flaherty tomorrow but why not. mikolas hasn’t been great lately. I consider it a must win. if we lose and brewers win, we have a playoff with the brewers. if we lose that, we then go to Washington on a seven game losing streak. I don’t like our chances. id rather go for the win tomorrow rather than pray Milwaukee loses then have a few days off. if we try this Flaherty, mikolas combination, that can really be horrible if that fails and the brewers win, what will we have for the 163rd game. now if Flaherty isn’t a 100 percent ready, id go with mikolas. at the end of the day, these other pitchers are gonna have to step up for us to be more than a foot note.

ParticipantI totally agree GameCard. I say we find a way to lose carp and put edman at third full time next year. got to wait and see, sometimes players fall off when expectations are a little higher but I love his hitting and speed. if bader could just learn to hit 240 and keep some of the patience hes found at times and wong could stay healthy, we could have a really speedy lineup.
September 28, 2019 at 11:18 pm #109217Eventually somebody other than Flaherty has to come through on a consistent basis. And somebody other than Edman has to come up with the big hit
September 28, 2019 at 11:23 pm #109218We need more hitters with the approach that Edman’s has.
September 28, 2019 at 11:29 pm #109220I am wondering if we are better off tomorrow starting Flaherty or Mikolas. It might be better to pitch Flaherty on Monday, in the NL Central decider, or in the NLCS game one.
September 28, 2019 at 11:31 pm #109221Better to be lucky than good. We are still in the driver’s seat for tomorrow.

You are entitled to your opinion but at least learn how to spell the mans name: SHILDT
September 29, 2019 at 6:40 am #109237I don’t post during games. For one, I don’t care what other people are whining about – I have my own. Also, I am lousy at multi-tasking. But after reading some of the comments made during this game I realize that people tend to make themselves look stupid via the internet – and others love to show that they are more stupid than the original.
SHILDT – That’s how he spells his name.
People who use S–T need to increase their vocabulary.
Use of pitchers: I tend to go with the guy who knows more than me, has a special coach to monitor them, and knows what he is facing in the next few days. For the most part I tend to be amused by some of the rants of couch coaches.
My Whines: I have been a proponent of resigning Marcel Ozuna. But after thinking about his defensive performance overall I realize that the man is playing for a ball to never get behind him; hence, he NEVER lays out or dives for a ball (ala Bader). Perhaps his body is not built for that but he just seems to give up to early on some. Hamels pop-up hit last night was the latest example. Let Marcel go at the end of the season.
Whine #2: I always want to see the lineup change to match the current abilities of the batters but some of them seem to be frozen in a slot as determined by their reputations. I speak of #3 and #4 specifically. However, after whining about that, I realize that there are only so many places you can put a cold hitter and we usually have 7 or 8 of them.
People I like and look forward to seeing next season: Ravelo – but work him into another position during spring training – that guy can rake. Arozorena (sp?) Everything he has done since coming up has looked good. Goldy – his defense is superb but I have gotten into expecting nothing when he comes up to bat – but watch out for next year. I have to learn to accept that his strikeout rate is way too high. Knizner – I don’t think Wieters will be back but this youngster can back up Yadi well.
And finally: Hail to the Rockies. They took us down at Coors and now they have taken down the Brewers. Finish the job today guys.
