September 28, 2019 at 11:54 am #109014Anyone that wants the team’s worst base runner that strikes out waving, half swinging and looking constantly needs his head examined.
Put Aruz in CF but by all means leave Carp where he is (or lower) ’till Wong returns and then bench his sorry ass. Getting a couple of hits in a game means nothing.
And for heavens sake bat Yadi 3rd. He’s a better hitter than either of those two batting #3 and #4.
September 28, 2019 at 11:57 am #109015Interesting odds on World Series
Tieing down the division is starting to feel like our post season.Man its getting harder than closing out a game. Is it me or have you guys noticed a 7 run meltdown in the 6th or 7th inning the last 2 games? Wonder if we could plan ahead for something like that? Hmmmm…Lets try it again, without the meltdown! Go Cardinals!September 28, 2019 at 12:18 pm #1090161. Dexter Fowler RF
2. Tommy Edman 2B
3. Paul Goldschmidt 1B
4. Marcell Ozuna LF
5. Yadier Molina C
6. Matt Carpenter 3B
7. Paul DeJong SS
8. Harrison Bader CF
9. Adam Wainwright PSeptember 28, 2019 at 12:48 pm #109017Let`s hope Fowler does something and Bader gets it together. The entire offense has been more erratic than a drunk on payday.Adding to the woes the total meltdown of Miller and Gallegos lately.Jeez whats next?
September 28, 2019 at 1:11 pm #109018Put a blindfold on Bader and tell him to swing. I bet his BA would go up. Every pitcher in the majors and minors that to get him out you just throw a low outside slider. To freeze him, throw a meatball center cut. Aroz can’t be worse. Bat Edmond first so he doesn’t have to follow Fowler’s out and then erased with a double play by Goldy or Ozuna – mainly Ozuna. Good grief Shildty, it seems this lineup is frozen in time and at a time when we need some small ball.
September 28, 2019 at 1:18 pm #109019We have the flakiest offense. Score 10 runs in the first game of a series, and then 1 and 2. It’s time for the offense to step up.
September 28, 2019 at 1:22 pm #109020September 28, 2019 at 1:25 pm #109021Agree to disagree Munuteman3 about being Schildts use of the pen. There’s been time this year where I question his move to take out the starter when he does. Case in point last Tuesday’s with Flaherty pitching against the D-backs. He should have been allowed to have given the oppt to finish the game. The only hit he gave up was a single in the 7th. I know it’s all hindsight but because of how he was pitching, I feel he gave us the best chance to get those final 6 outs and even if his pitch count was above the usual, he would have had 8 days rest before his next start. I guess I’m just old school…
September 28, 2019 at 3:21 pm #109023A time to reflect. These last 4 games our lack of offense, and bullpen struggles have put us in a position to where we are now fighting to win a division title. After last weekends series there may be some Cardinal fans asking how have we put ourself in this predicament. The best answer I have for that it’s not what we’ve done the last 4 games but the entire season because the last 4 seasons, game 161 has had little meaning to Cardinal players and their fans so regardless of how we got here, we are here and for the first time in 5 years we are in the postseason and have a chance to capture a division title. Go Cardinals!

Participantall this hate on poor bader. sometimes I wonder just how many people on this board actually know a thing about baseball other than some stats and such, maybe they are just fans. there are some that know something but I just don’t know. everybody wants to replace the guy in the spot that historically is the least productive outside of any spot other than the 9th when the pitcher is batting. also he is probably one of the lowest paid guys and was put in the 8th spot because they knew he wasn’t going to hit for a good average. a lot of these other guys who are paid far more and should be expected to do more are having just a bad a last month or so as bader to a degree and are generally in spots in the order that are historically what determine your offensive success. yet I see few calling for goldy, ozuna, dejomg, or fowler to sit even though they have far more opportunities and are expected to do better based on their history and position in the lineup. imn not saying bader shouldn’t sit though at this point I wouldn’t unless wong comes back and carp keeps hitting. but he didn’t exactly kill it in Arizona or against the cubs. I remember all the hate on grichuk and look how hes done in Toronto. I guess im just ranting, my one rant tonight but I like see some perspective, not just sit the guy. hopefully our pitchin g is strong tonight, if not might not matter if we hit.
September 28, 2019 at 5:13 pm #109033Shildt’s explanation makes perfect sense when you look at Bader’s splits against LHP: .172/.245/.355
In his pre-game media scrum, Shildt said Arozarena was considered for a start tonight but #STLCards kept Bader in for 2 basic reasons: facing LHP and his elite defensive ability. "We want to keep our strengths our strengths," he said.

September 28, 2019 at 5:18 pm #109034Of course I don’t get Fox right now because of Direct TV and will need to go to the bar. Maybe that’s what I need as the stress of watching millionaires strike out 12 times a game is nauseating. The reality is we didn’t have a single offensive All Star on the team. 0 margin for error and Cubs can play loose. I just had to go back and watch You Tubes of beating the Dodgers in games 5 & 6 of ’85. I feel a little better now…
September 28, 2019 at 5:24 pm #109036BHC, then consider Arozarena’s split against LHPs this year in Memphis: .360/.431/.540/.971. I wish the whole team was better than that against LHPs. We would be unstoppable.
September 28, 2019 at 5:53 pm #109037Top notch maneuver revisiting Games 5 & 6 of the ’85 Dodger beatings, Jimmy! Nobody on this board should fret one iota about tonight’s game. The cubbies are going down. And when Pugs says a team “is going down”, they are indeed going down. What’s for din-din you may ask? Just your basic garden variety spaghetti & meatballs, garlic bread, cantaloupe and taking a page out of master chef Wooster’s dessert menu, cinnamon apple pie with Breyers vanilla ice cream.
September 28, 2019 at 6:17 pm #109039I am ready for some baseball and a Cardinals division title. Let’s do this boys
September 28, 2019 at 6:17 pm #109040good start. 1 pitch. 1 out
September 28, 2019 at 6:25 pm #109041no worries… We play better from behind. Got a feeling Goldy will do something in the bottom half.
September 28, 2019 at 6:28 pm #109042Need Fowler to get the team started.
September 28, 2019 at 6:29 pm #109043Thats what I call a classic din-din alright Pugs. I was going to make spagette too but we had pizza last night. After our big IHOP breakfast this morning we just had grilled cheese sandwiches with salt + ketchup and potato chips with refried bean dip, two more great American Classics!
Looking to wrap up the Central tonight!September 28, 2019 at 6:32 pm #109044Have been waiting all day for this game to start. But, what do you do when the wifey says “for me, would you please not watch the game tonight and spend time with me?”
September 28, 2019 at 6:36 pm #109045The Redbirds have several players in the everyday line up that have been struggling and batting averages are dropping. Not good a for team facing must win games.
September 28, 2019 at 6:37 pm #109046Not just because of last AB, and lack of production this year, but Ozuna needs to go. He just gives off the vibe of a “me” player and not a team player… maybe its just me.
