Took a while but I found it. Matz made a 10th start and threw 4 pitches, was pulled with shoulder discomfort. Rondon came in and relieved vs the PIT leadoff batter.
Matz is a prime candidate for “Comeback Player of the Year for 2023″….. along with O’Neill should they still be around STL next season.

I’m setting the Clunker line at 39 or below. Everyone who has had a 39, or below, has pitched to an ERA of 9 or more, for the game.

Montgomery – 0 of 2, 0%Now that Matz is rehabbing, what would be his role, long relief? He certainly shouldn’t be in the starting 5. And who would he bump off of active roster? Woodford, Thompson, Romero?
He will be in the bullpen. I would imagine he would bump Thompson or Romero.
#STLCards LHP Steven Matz, who threw well on Tues at Springfield, will pitch again on Friday. He is hoping to be able to throw at least into the third inning. He’s being groomed as a reliever — something that shouldn’t be a problem for him, he said, b/c he “gets ready quickly.”
