It seems like the big stars want to go straight to the top. No lesser coaching job on a ML staff, no managing an affiliated MiLB team, or any team in the USA that is not ML. I guess they want to get up to speed in some far away place out of the public eye, for some reason.

Wong to Orioles on minor league deal. It seems surprising he couldn’t land a MLB contract of some kind.
The Wong news prompted me to check up on his college teammate and former Cardinal Greg Garcia. It looks like Garcia played in 2020 and then dropped out after failing to catch on with a couple teams during 2021 ST. I didn’t see anything relating to Indy ball nor about retirement, so I don’t know his status.
Dave Martinez and Miguel Cairo brought Scott Rolen into camp today to talk to Nats’ young players. Davey said he has known Rolen for years and that he epitomizes how Nats want to play. Said he’ll be around for a couple days.
