I was really hoping I had seen the last of Leone. I’ve developed a near irrational dislike for him and his unique ability to blow leads or turn close games into unwinnable messes.
February 20, 2023 at 11:59 am #212961I feel like a grade A moron. I just reread the Leone tweet. The RANGERS signed him. I’m glad to see him gone but wish him the best. D’oh!
February 21, 2023 at 8:56 am #213000Free-agent first baseman Luke Voit has signed a minor-league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers that includes an invite to spring training.

February 21, 2023 at 11:12 am #213016A lefty giving grip pointers to a righty. That should help.
It’s just like looking in the mirror.

cardsfan64ParticipantTwo former Cardinals signing minor league deals:
February 17, 2023 Chicago White Sox signed free agent LHP Ricardo Sánchez to a minor league contract.
02/28/23 LHP Domingo Robles assigned to Mississippi Braves.
February 28, 2023 at 1:47 pm #213342It is very early…
José Quintana recorded only two outs in his Grapefruit debut this afternoon. He allowed five runs, including a booming two-run homer from David Hensley that hit halfway up the batter's eye in straightaway center. Quintana, the Mets' presumptive fourth starter, threw 30 pitches.

March 10, 2023 at 12:16 pm #213834Harrison Bader has a left oblique injury, per Boone. Doesn’t have a timeline yet but fair to say his availability to start season is in doubt.

March 10, 2023 at 2:24 pm #213841Q, Bader, Rondon…Mo was light on his feet dodging bullets.
March 13, 2023 at 12:56 pm #213982Sources: Realistically, based on the early diagnosis Quintana could be ready to pitch for Mets around the time of the All-Star break https://t.co/eZO8xWk280

March 13, 2023 at 3:12 pm #213986I haven’t read all the Q stories, how did he break a rib? I assume that is still the diagnosis.
March 13, 2023 at 4:29 pm #213987I read it was a stress fracture, Bling. Probably just wound up and let loose a pitch and the rib went with the baseball. Mrs. 1TD fell victim to one of those in her leg while carrying a load of laundry up the basement steps. I had to do all the cooking and grocery shopping for a long time. She claimed my cooking was as painful as her leg…
March 13, 2023 at 5:02 pm #213989Yeah, pitchers with a contract get hurt just standing around.
March 13, 2023 at 5:52 pm #213994Tough for Bader. Those obliques can take while to heal. And he just recently had another slow healing ailment in the plantar fasciatis (not sure on the spelling).
March 13, 2023 at 6:39 pm #213996bikemike, it seems like a recurring theme with a lot of guys. I wonder if those players focus enough on flexibility in their fitness training?
And bling’s not joking, baseball has a lot of standing around doing nothing, and then boom, in an instant a player needs to sprint, twist, dive, swing, throw, etc., at maximum force/torque/whatever. That’s a great combo for injury. Or do like John Daly and become rotund to avoid injury. I think he’s the one who said you can’t pull fat.
March 14, 2023 at 2:29 pm #214018Update: José Quintana has a lesion on his rib, according to Mets GM Billy Eppler. He was seen by a tumor specialist, and the results of a biopsy came back benign.
However, Quintana is going to undergo bone graft surgery. The Mets aren't expecting him back until at least July.

March 14, 2023 at 3:14 pm #214021Well, that’s nothing to make light of. Get well soon Mr. Q.
March 28, 2023 at 3:54 pm #214912Is Luke Voit with the Brewers now? I missed it if he is.

March 29, 2023 at 8:30 pm #214962Just noticed that Freddy Pacheco is on Detroit’s 60-day IL.
And, BTW, he’s also listed as still being on Memphis’ roster.
March 30, 2023 at 10:31 am #214982RELEASED: #SFGiants have released OF Stephen Piscotty at his request.
— MLB Transaction Tracker (@MLBMovesTracker) March 30, 2023
March 30, 2023 at 10:50 am #214983I read Piscotty did pretty well this Spring. Wonder if he’s working on a better fit elsewhere.
