I enjoyed watching Lester work down the stretch last season. Not so much in ’13.

I am unclear if these suspensions are being served cocurrently or consecutively
September 3, 2022 at 4:52 am #198822SA with a rare clunker, as he gives up 6 earned runs in 5 innings in a Marlins defeat vs Atlanta. SA was roughed up with 3 Braves round trippers and saw his ERA blossom to 2.36 and WHIP rise to an even-Steven 1.00. Wondering if Gibby had even one of these type of poor outings in his historic 1968 1.12 ERA campaign? Without looking, Gibby’s WHIP that year had to be south of 1.00 too. What a truly amazing year for Gibby.
September 3, 2022 at 5:42 am #198823Pugs? Gibson’s WHIP in 1968 was .0853.
September 6, 2022 at 2:55 pm #199382On the other hand, Zac Gallen is the player of the week.
The Ozuna trade is looking like it could be historically bad. But it gets a bit of a pass as everyone wanted the Cardinals to get an offensive bomber. And at the time Alcantara and Gallen were prospects. Sometimes they hit and sometimes they miss.
It has happened to play out so far that both have “hit” in quite a successful way.
September 6, 2022 at 3:27 pm #199387… and Cardinal, of course….
Former Royals pitcher Mark Littell has died at the age of 69. https://t.co/cpoTRdjAu4

September 6, 2022 at 7:02 pm #199404Oh man, I remember the hard throwing righty Mark Littell. I think Whitey managed him both in Kansas City and St. Louis.

ParticipantI remember littell a little bit, not much cause my memory isnt the best. Sad to see. Gonna become common place unfortunately as I’m getting older to see even more of guys I was watching play fall by the wayside.
September 7, 2022 at 4:05 pm #199552The Pirates now have both Junior Fernandez and Johan Oviedo.

September 7, 2022 at 5:32 pm #199562I like both Oviedo and Fernandez. They may never pan out, as my dad used to say. But they have the physical tools and stuff. Need to mature and improve their command. Both are worth giving a try out to for a club like Pittsburgh.

ParticipantThere is a great article on Scott spezio out. I hadn’t realized how rough his life had turned though it was self inflicted. Nice to see that it seems he has turned it around.
September 9, 2022 at 2:24 pm #199852I haven’t seen the article on Spezio, but I know there were always rumors of drug usage when he was playing.

September 11, 2022 at 8:54 am #200100Congratulations Edwin Jackson (@EJ36), who officially retired yesterday, on his birthday. DYK "Scoop" made his major league debut on his birthday (in 2003), then played for a #MLB record 14 different teams? Details are on #BaseballAlmanac. [https://t.co/LwLBjHjprj] ❤️⚾️

ParticipantI don’t really know on playing for 14 teams is a great stat or not but playing as long as he did was a good accomplishment.
September 19, 2022 at 11:41 pm #201509Vader should be coming off the 60 day for Tuesday game. Pain has subsided (mostly). Hope he does well.

Yeah ESPN had some wild article about him a few years back. Think it was some hit and run where the cops went to his house and he hid in the closet and he had his wife at the time deal with them. Could be sketchy on my details but remember it being wild.

Me too…but selfishly, I’m glad that it saves us the PTBNL.
September 22, 2022 at 9:50 am #201882The long-time leader of the Royals, Dayton Moore, has been fired. The PBO hired manager Mike Matheny and the latter’s future could be in question.
Coincidentally, I found my flying back to Kansas City on Wednesday for a reason that had nothing to do with the Royals.
One hour later, I was at the K as Royals owner John Sherman explained why he fired Dayton Moore.
A look at the future in KC: https://t.co/hdiAaRs0no

#SFGiants roster moves:

September 23, 2022 at 2:32 pm #202047Being selected before Aaron Judge isn’t exactly “in the news”, but I checked in on the 2013 STL first rounds selections taken ahead of Judge. We had two selections ahead of him and both are today in the Mariners organization. Marco Gonzales and Rob Kaminsky who, at age 28, is with their AA affiliate. That draft was as close to a total bust as it gets, although Voit later did well for NYY,
September 23, 2022 at 6:25 pm #202078That draft was as close to a total bust as it gets,
Oh now, now. Marco brought back the GREAT Tyler O’Neill and Kaminsky brought back future hall of fame Brandon Moss.
I remember fans losing their minds at the idea of giving up Kaminsky for Moss.September 24, 2022 at 9:52 am #202209Marco does have more career strike outs than O’Neill, I checked.
