I also think we were too hot on Saggese. If you set Winn aside as a ‘prospect’, I am not comfortable saying Saggese is the top prospect in the system. In hindsight, and as my thinking has evolved with all thinking and talking about prospects, I would probably put Scott in that position, ahead of Hence and Roby by a nose just due to the health risk factor with pitchers.

Thanks jnevel, for getting us going and laying the groundwork for our top 50. I will indeed try to keep the 36 hour format to allow as many as possible to vote on their choices for top 50 prospects in the organization.

    #27 – Quinn Matthews
    #28 – Mike Antico
    #29 – Moises Gomez

Glad to see the TCN top 50 post Matt Swanson today at #34. He looks like he could move up fast!

The thing about Saggese is that he has always hit, and hit, and hit. None of the other prospects in our top 10 have consistently put up the kind of hitting numbers that Saggese has.

I have not participated because I saw few minor league games but I think this guy is better than this.

SoonerinNC, are you voting for Matthews as your #27 pick, or just making a comment? Just trying to clarify…

I have Mathews in my next group just outside of my top 30. But I admit I’m just throwing a dart until he takes the mound and we see what happens. I’ve got Trent Baker ahead of him.

It seems we have differing views as we get into the middle of the prospect range. Lots of potential in our farm system, but don’t forget some of the “older” guys in AAA that haven’t quite made it. Some may never may never even get a cup of coffee, but then again, things could click this spring and they could take off! Gomez, Siani, Thomas, Svanson and Redmond are just a few that could show something this year!

64, a lot of people get excited about big numbers in rookie ball. A lot of the players won’t survive contact with advanced competition. But it’s good to hope.i agree that the ones still standing in the upper levels mostly don’t have that phenom shine anymore, so it takes some doing to attract interest. Its just different ways to evaluate.
