Yes, you’ve repeated Horton’s praises repeatedly the last 1 1/2 Hours. No need to spam it after saying it once.
March 20, 2024 at 7:19 pm #244561You new guys have turned the forum into a kindergarten class.
March 20, 2024 at 7:31 pm #244562Let’s stick to the topic, gents.
I like Burly as an offensive player. And sometimes you just gotta play a guy knowing that you are giving up one faucet of the game for another. Remember Chris Duncan? He would get hot and we played him, but every ball hit to him was an adventure.
Love those guys that play both sides of the ball, but the part of the joy of the game is “do I put this guy out there hoping he can at least hold his own in the filed and we get a lead, or do I go with my glove guy most of the time?”
March 20, 2024 at 7:35 pm #244563I wholeheartedly agree with sticking with topics, I was just following other leadership. And Shady was being extremely aggressive towards people and their opinions. “Taunting” as it was called line by line by other leadership.
Burleson hitting well is a good thing. I’m just afraid barring extreme attrition ahead of him in the pecking order, he won’t get the chance. A good hitting Matt Carpenter will eat into his chances. And Brendan Donovan will likely play a bit of LF, too.
March 20, 2024 at 7:51 pm #244564Brian and UConn Card, t8ball12, is messing with this wonderful forum. Set up, solely, for Cardinals baseball talk, not disruption. Please don’t let it happen.
March 20, 2024 at 8:16 pm #244565One thing’s for certain…Burleson’s going to get his chance in about a week to show whether or not he can hit and generate offensive production. In games that count.

jj-cf-stlParticipantBurly has options, and isn’t being ignored.
Second half of 2024 his BAbip jumped +.080, to mlb avg, and all of a sudden he’s a 101 ops+ in 151 second half PA’s. SSS, but progress.
If that is his floor for his next 151 PA’s, I’ll take it. But, as a reserve developmental player, there’s time to wait on his slg%.

ParticipantOutfield depth chart –
LF – Nootbaar
CF – Edman
RF – Walker
#4 – Carlson
#5 – BurlesonMarch 21, 2024 at 5:34 am #244573Jose Martinez had a 162 game average of .803 OPS. Burleson is. Under. .700. I. Think. That needs. To. Go. Up.
March 21, 2024 at 7:19 am #244574Last time I’m saying this to our rookie posters…..let’s cease & desist with the personal jabs, gentlemen! We do not care how you conducted yourselves on another board, whether it be another Cardinals board, Reds board or even a cubbies bored….it only matters how you act here, on the most respected board in the business. Let’s also never take our eye off the ball as far as not veering off topic. And to our regular posters…..like it or not, our fresh batch of new posters will one day be the face of The Cardinal Nation. Growing pains are to be expected. To help show them the Cardinal Nation way, I believe a mentoring program would be of great benefit. For instance, if Cranny took Shady under his wing and Bling shepherded Wally Buttersworth, it would soon pay off in Aces. Now to get the ball rolling on our new and improved state of affairs, I think it would be a great gesture if Shady extended an olive branch(kind words) in T8Ball’s direction……and knowing what a class act T8Ball is, the kindness would be reciprocated. Back to Burly and Cardinals baseball.
March 21, 2024 at 10:28 am #244579Two more hits for Burleson yesterday the dude can really hit
March 21, 2024 at 10:33 am #244582I don’t want any hassles. Differences of opinions on baseball, no biggie. But no personal animosity. Just Cardinals baseball talk. Go Burly and the Cardinals !
March 21, 2024 at 10:48 am #244584ok.
March 21, 2024 at 10:55 am #244586Today’s lineup. Apparently, a lot of respect for Burleson’s hitting, right now. Contreras will probably be at #5 on opening day. Though, Burleson has outhit him this spring. One way or the other, it’s should be a respectable lineup.
1. Brendan Donovan (L) ~ LF
2. Paul Goldschmidt (R) ~ 1B
3. Nolan Gorman (L) ~ 2B
4. Nolan Arenado (R) ~ 3B
5. Alec Burleson (L) ~ DH
6. Ivan Herrera (R) ~ C
7. Jordan Walker (R) ~ RF
8. Dylan Carlson (S) ~ CF
9. Masyn Winn (R) ~ SSMarch 21, 2024 at 10:58 am #244587Told him to bring his bat and leave his mitt in the truck.
March 21, 2024 at 11:24 am #244589@Shady, that lineup looks good, all they need to do is sub in Carpenter and Contreras at 5 and 6 and that’s likely opening day lineup.
March 21, 2024 at 11:26 am #244591Shady that looks like about as good a lineup as possible
March 21, 2024 at 11:26 am #244592Carpenter has hit well in ST. But, I get the feeling Oli REALLY likes Burleson’s bat in the lineup against RHP.
March 21, 2024 at 11:27 am #244593I think you are right
March 21, 2024 at 11:33 am #244594wally, with Edman and Nootbaar out, it wouldn’t suprise me at all, if Burleson starts against LHP, too. Or they could go with Contreras and Herrera at C and DH or vice versa.
March 21, 2024 at 12:10 pm #244595@Shady, that lineup looks good, all they need to do is sub in Carpenter and Contreras at 5 and 6 and that’s likely opening day lineup.
Burleson probably won’t be on the od roster, so that is highly likely.
March 21, 2024 at 12:26 pm #244596Burleson didn’t look good in his first K today.
Left 2 runners on base.
March 21, 2024 at 12:26 pm #244597Burleson still can’t handle RISP properly against tough RHP pitching. Strikes out. Against weak pitching with no one on, he can hit doubles all day.
March 21, 2024 at 1:06 pm #244602Yes that is the third time all spring that Burleson has struck out cut him
March 21, 2024 at 1:13 pm #244603This would be a pretty decent offensive lineup. Some good young talent in this organization.
1) Scott CF
2) Prieto 3B
3) Gorman 1B
4) Walker RF
5) Burleson DH
6) Saggese 2B
7) Herrera C
8) Carlson LF
9) Winn SSThat lineup would cost a combined $8.5M. I am sure BDW would wholeheartedly endorse that.
