When most are healthy. Burleson seems blocked as a Cardinal. He needs fresh scenery like Arozarena, Garcia, Bader and O’Neill got. That should thrill you Burleson critics.

No offense, Shady, but Burly couldn’t hold any one of those four’s jock straps.

He needs to get better in several identifiable and defined ways, period, regardless of what team he plays for. It is in the Cardinals’ interest (and Burleson’s) for that to happen, whether he stays in St. Louis or is eventually traded for value.

If I’m Burleson and see the scenario unfolding, I’m requesting a trade. He needs the opportunity to start. It doesn’t look like that opportunity is there with the Cardinals. The Cardinals are going yo play Walker and Scott. And they are pretty fond of Nootbaar and Edman. Let him get a chance to start someplace else. Try to get a decent pitching prospect for Burleson.

If I’m a Burleson advocate, I’d want him to do everything he could to get better. Which would include stop swinging at everything. Bad contact isn’t a good thing. Work on that for at least a full season in Memphis. And if you accomplish this, then you can demand a trade.

Even then, we might be able to get a raw/wild reliever that’s too old for Palm Beach.

A team with astute talent evaluators would likely want Burleson now if they need a talented LH bat with some potential to be a really good hitter. If the Cardinals see Burleson as a bench type player, trade Burleson for a nice lower level pitching prospect.

I regret to inform you that there isn’t a very big market for bat-only DH/1Bs with an 81 OPS+.

OK RBK, should the Cardinals just release Burleson if he’s as limited as you claim? Like they did Garcia. How’d that work out?

all teams want that, but that’s not Burleson. He’s not a “Talented LH Bat with some potential to be a really good hitter”

that line doesn’t seem to make sense. If he were talented, then he would have more than “some” potential

t8ball12, so do you wish the Cardinals simply release Burleson? Please answer. You seem to loathe Burleson as an MLB baseball player.

did anyone say/type “release him?” Get back in line.

2nd time I’ve typed this ~ Demote him, have him work it out for almost a full season in Memphis. Hopefully he gets better. And if he still wants a trade after that, then try to find someone to take him…or maybe he’s more mature than the advocate, and he’ll want to stay and show what he’s learned.

OK RBK, do you just release him, like they did Garcia. How’d that work out?

    1. Garcia was given a lot more time/opportunity to show something with the organization than Burleson has been given thus far.

    2. For the umpteenth time, NO ONE (except perhaps you) is advocating for the Cardinals to release Burleson. NO ONE.

    3. You are a Cardinals fan, yes? As a Cardinals fan, presumably you should want what is best for the team, and what is clearly best for the team is for Burleson to meaningfully improve in several well-defined areas in order to increase his sustainable productivity, and therefore his value. That’s what most posters on here seem to want (myself included).

t8ball12, that’s a cop out. Burleson has nothing to prove at AAA. They way you discredit him. You don’t seem to see his hitting potential. Correct? If the Cardinals don’t either. Why bot jusyt release him and open up a roster spot?

RBK, that’s also a cop out. You have been very dimissive of Burleson’s abilities. Frankly, I’m surprised you wouldn’t advocate a DFA for Burly.

Pugsley, the Cardinals parted ways with them four. If they are so much better than Burleson. Why not just release Burleson? You don’t seem to see much value in him as an MLB player. Agree?

Obviously, Burleson is not able to “prove” he can hit at the major league level. He has been given an opportunity to show something but all he has shown is that his bat is not special. I wish he would show something but I’m not going to pretend that he has at the major league level, so far.

t8ball12, that’s rather shallow comeback from such an esteemed poster. I will admit your minor leagues reporting is quite good.

RBK, many of the anti Burleson crowd, including you, haven’t shown much affinity toward Burleson. I just assumed your crowd would be relieved if he’s not a Cardinal anymore.

t8ball12, “It is against board policy to incite an argument”. You aren’t exactly a saint when it comes to this. And you know what I’m referring to. Just talk baseball with me. Leave out the personal insinuations.

Matt Koperniak is a good hitter in Memphis…has been a stalwart at proper contact. While not a power bat, and he’ll never be confused as one, maybe/hopefully, the Brit can take Burleson under his wings.

That’s what I’d like to see.

t8ball12, another subtle attempt at baiting. Please clean it up here. Maybe it’s in my best interests to completely ignore your mischief.
