KBC, that’s comical. Jim Edmonds sees Burleson’s hitting ability. He’s said it before. Plain and simple. I choose to value his and other professional baseball people’s take on Burleson. Rather than cynical massage board poster’s take.
Ricky Horton and Jim Edmonds are probably announcers instead of scouts or coaches for a reason. When Burleson’s replacement come off the IL or is brought up from the minors shortly, they will saw that guy is awesome too.
As previously stated both are paid by the Cards and not critical of players or management.
Mr Shady. Are you simply incapable of admitting you were wrong about Burleson?

Why do I have to keep telling you people the same things over and over?

For some time now, fans have been hoping for a good LH bat. We now have Nootbaar, Gorman, and Burleson as possibles. Wouldn’t it be great if they all came through and were consistent threats for years to come.
Gorman led the team in home runs last year, and Nootbaar brings nice energy plus an OPS of .780 in 2023. There’s some potential there for long term production.
Jim Edmonds can (and does) talk until he’s blue in the face, but that doesn’t change the fact that Burleson has been a complete failure as a hitter at the MLB level. It’s just a fact. His stat line doesn’t lie or lean into hyperbole. Your stat line is what you are.
I’m thinking you relentless Burleson critics cheered for that spectacular catch the Miami LFer made to rob Burleson. It was another line drive against a lefty pitcher.

There is no doubt in my mind that Burleson is the best .179 hitter in MLB! Might be too soon for work to begin on his HOF Bust, but I’m good with measuring him for his Red Jacket.
AdM, be honest, were you elated that Burleson got robbed on that sinking liner to LF? I’m pretty sure I know where your allegiance was.
* 44.7% Chase Rate.
* 5.6% Barrel Rate.
* 3.4 P/PA.
* 3.3% BB-rate.
* .200 OBP.The issues are exactly the same as in the prior two years: poor plate discipline, swinging at bad pitches, quick ABs, weak contact, poor power. They’re all related. The only difference is now he’s striking out more (27% K-rate).
Many of us told you to focus on process rather than fawning over SSS spring training stats.
I don’t care what any of the amateur message board critics claim with their stats. I still see outstanding potential in Burleson’s hitting ability. And I’m thinking the Cardinals do, too. In fairness, I’m disappointed in Burleson’s power production. But there hasn’t exactly been much power, so far this season, from Arenado and Walker either.

They’re Burleson’s stats.
His numbers are his numbers.We’re all rooting for him to succeed! We’d all love it if he became half the hitter you seem to think he is. But neither you nor Burleson can run away from his dismal record of hitting! He is what the numbers say he is, good or bad, same as every other player in MLB.
It’s certainly not personal. It’s just that he hits like Dal Maxvill, runs like Yadi Molina, and plays defense like Chris Duncan. Not good!
AdM, “We’re all rooting for him to succeed!” You can’t BS a BSer. You’d rather feel you are right than for Burly to succeed. It’s kind of sad to have that mindset.
Of course, we’re rooting for success. He’s a Cardinal! That’s not disputable. My team is better if all the young players have success.
However, we’re not blind homers. If a guy stinks, he stinks. We don’t like it, but we can’t pretend a pile of poop is Grandma’s Apple Pie. It doesn’t work that way.
AdM, so you actually feel Burleson looks lost and overmatched at the plate? If so, why don’t the Cardinals seem to see that? I’ll be surprised if Burleson isn’t in the lineup at DH the next two games against RHP starters.
I don’t think Burleson has looked what I’d term as “overmatched” in his 30 or so PA’s ths season. I’ll also say that I’ve seen him take what I would describe as several nice looking rips in quite a few of his AB’s. The guy looks like he may eventually figure out Big League pitching and demonstrate that he can hit it. However the fact remains that he’s failed to generate hardly any significant offensive production at all during the early part of the season. Net bottom line is that he’s failed to perform during his best opportunity to do so at the Big League level.
