Johnson City has lost 4 games to weather in the last four days including yesterday’s doubleheader. They have a DH today v. Bristol, and storms are at about 40% during the day. It appears that no other make up games will be scheduled.
The good news out of Springfield is that Knizner is back and playing. He missed seven games in eight days.
It will be interesting to see if Pearce gets his regular turn on Tuesday…. he has been less than spectacular in his two starts since coming back from that month and a half stint on the DL.
IMO, the top surprises this season are Mendoza, getting up to Springfield and holding his own…. Montero, we knew he would be good, but not this good…. Gorman, just look out…. IHerrera, the 18 y.o. will be pushing Knizner in two/three years.
On the pitching side, Fagalde, I don’t know what to say anymore, FFC card holder here…. Austin Warner, his first two starts for Palm Beach stunk, his first three starts at Springfield were terrible and his first start at Memphis was a bomb, all of the rest of his 14 starts have been very, very good….. Angel Rondon, where did he come from??…. Cordero and Schlesener for the Spikes…. Coward and Dellavalle at GCL.
Regarding Springfield:
Unless he is pulled between now and then, Pearce is starting Tuesday.
I am not impressed by Mendoza’s .665 OPS in more than three months at Springfield, which has been dropping each month. That won’t cut it for a corner infielder.
For members, I just posted my monthly prospect rankings and Mendoza was one who took a dive.

The GCLs might have to add Chris Hunt to their rotation or send him up to Johnson City. He’s already 23 and is pitching his best in his two pro seasons.
The lefty Dalhberg has impressed me all season because he’s been consistently good. He is also 24 and belongs at PB. Guillory is struggling there so a spot may be open for him.
Between Peoria and Palm Beach, QUIETLY, Irving Lopez is having a damn fine season for himself. In his 17 games for PB he’s batting .345 in 58 ABs with 16 RBIs…. 7 Ks & 7 BBs. This is at Palm Beach.
Hey Pugs… just calling it the way I see it. Fagalde is #43 on the new TCN ranking. I have him at #35.
Did you know that only 3 pitchers in all of full season @MiLB have at least 7 wins since June 21 (Start of 2nd half). Two have worn Chiefs uniforms. Alex Fagalde (now at PB) is 8-1 in 10 starts and tonight's Chiefs starter Johan Oviedo is 7-1 in 9 starts.

This is based on some help from other lists, some researching, and my own personal observations in following the affiliates daily. I check on potential, performance and progress as yardsticks.
When its time for the TCN’s very own peanut gallery to begin putting our consensus list together, I’ll have my list to work off. If you have interest in the organization, watch for the start up, and please join in. Its very interesting.

Two more hits for Andy Young last night. He keeps putting up the numbers but he’s not getting the love…..so far.
I would agree, BHC. He would lead the DSL by huge margins in average, on base percentage and slugging if he was qualified. That’s not just some fluky small thing.
CC…. I don’t rank relievers as I would starters. Besides none of the three you mentioned are doing very well this season… check out their WHIPS.
I had DGonzales on my prior lists but this season nothing shouts out top-50. Fernandez is really struggling… I liked him as a starter a while ago.
C… what no list? Your probably working on yours right now. I thought that you would be one to submit.
I understand the reliever angle but I definitely consider Woodford and Jones relievers as well and would put the current relievers ahead of them.
mud, I believe Young has already passed his wildest dreams. He has likely reset his goals because he has been just great as he has climbed in the organization. His next stop should be AAA, despite the competition he’ll be facing with a number of middle infielders already at Memphis. (Sosa-Mejia-Schrock-Tovar-Urias-Edman.) He just has some more pop in his bat and has become an elite defender.
Fernandez had trouble with walks early, but they are now under control. Remember he essentially missed a year and is still coming back. Texas League hitters are just batting .224 against him currently.
I dropped him down some, but certainly not off the top 50.

Gonzalez is also coming back from injury and is dominating at Springfield. Also too early to give up on, IMO.

Both Jones and Woodford have joined the Memphis rotation. It always disappoints me when viable starters are put in the bullpen…. but this is 2018 baseball.
I remember when Lynn came up as a Memphis starter and they threw him in the bullpen. He had to scratch his way out and into the rotation. Something like Gomber this season. On the other hand, Hicks has been great and Mayers-Hudson have looked the part.
Hudson must wind up in the 2019 rotation somehow.
I don’t discount Fernandez, DGonzales or Greene. I just don’t look at them the same as you have.
I have Jake Walsh at #36. He is actually improving on his numbers since being promoted to Palm Beach. His K/rate is down but also is his walk rate. His WHIP has remained very close to 1.00 and his average against has been kept down in the .220/.230 area. That’s what I see in him and I moved him up accordingly.
With the Card’s bullpen looking to become very crowded, very soon, Poncedeleon should be stretched out at Memphis. I see him as our #6 starter right now. The Memphis rotation is not what it was earlier ( I think BW pointed that out already). So we’ve gone through the premier wave of starters. The next wave appears to be at Springfield including Kruczynski-Cabrera and with some more work, Shew.
BW – I can’t disagree with your ranking Young at 24, up 10 spots. He just hasn’t done it long enough yet. I was complaining about nyquisT bringing him in at 32 on his personal list.
mud…. honestly I kept him in the low 30’s because I didn’t want to jinx him. He’s the 37rd pick (1126) in ’17, out of Indiana State U. and he has overachieved to get where he is now. If he finishes strong there will be room made for him to move up. Your right though…. ya got to believe.
